Good point.

And I am not necessarily excusing people's ignorance - it's just that some view the event as significant and worth remembering whereas others see it as an inexorable part of the past and just a single part of greater events. It's all a matter of perspective.

I understand, and you could argue that the more important decision was made when the Japansese decided to send their fleet towards Hawaii. But this is the day it happened, and it is important not so much as what it is, the date, or even the events itself, but more of how big a puzzle piece it was to the world today.

yes. Weird thing is that here, nobody seems to care so much. Although it was a turning point in world history, only americans seem to care. sad :(

I think it's more sad people dwell on the past, remembering stuff that happened decades ago, even though tragedies happen every single day all over the world and nobody even knows about them.

Yes, seriously - I find it hard to give a about this when there is so much going on in the world.

In fact, I bet if the money spent on remembering Pearl Harbour was used in a move effective manner, like feeding starving kids, everyone would be much better off.

dwelling on the past is not the same as remembrance. Maybe those tragedies wouldn't happen if people learnt their lessons from history.
