dj's play what sounds good with thier set, not whats popular..

you are right, to a point I think. I get tired and I know a lot of others do as well of hearing the same thing from a dj on a regular basis. Yes, it is nice to bring classics in a set but to continue to bring that classic back in your set over and over again is pretty much uncalled for. It's important to keep things fresh if you are playing out all of the time because it simply gets boring and over done.

dear lord..

well, i dunno about his DJ'ing, but I like his producing style... sure it is not anything groundbreaking, but his tracks are very good peak-hour sort of stuff.

But when he pumps out so many tracks that have the same basslines, structures and melodies in such a short period of time, and he DJ's tracks that all sound the same... yea I guess that is annoying. I wouldn't play more than one Tyas track per set.

Yeah, oh well...

Right now my current favs are Hawtin, Lawler, and Digweed. And while they occasionaly repeat something, its not even close compared to the big trance names.

i say kind of just live and let live, some ppl think the discover crew is pumping out crap others dont. I tend to be in middle, I love some of discover's stuff- John Askew-All or nothing, love it. yeah sean tyas has kind of pumped out alot of tracks in alittle time with same structure but whatever it's his own thing. If he likes doing it then whos to say he shouldn't. I mean SVD has done the same thing within the year pumping out tracks. Think the guys sets arent too bad but I really hate his productions. Probably alot of you are on the SVD bandwagon, but to me he does have a cookie cutter way of producing imo. Again respect to any1 who likes him but I really cant stand his productions that build up to nothing really. So a few artists not jsut tyas are throwing out tracks monthly or biweekly. Based on the popularity thing I really do agree that dj's are starting to spin more popular stuff jsut to get their name higher up on the dj poll. You can tell by bigger \dj's who have altered their sets completly, used to spin a wide structure but now are just spinning ty tunes that are popular b/c that reason only. I wont drop anyone under the bus but you can prob pic some out. Like karen overton-your loving arms, was a track that was whored out by all and imo the track sucked complete ass, dunno why it was popular but everyone was throwing it in their sets. So if you really dont like what their doing email them personally and let them know, or just let them do what they want to do and do your own thing. Live and let live lol. Sorry psot was so long, just had lot to say.
