I am sick and tired of playing tunes that alot of other people are playing. I want to start finding new music. I have been buying from the digital download sites because I spin off cdjs and burn my music to cds. But, I am finding out from reveiwing alot of other peoples tracklists that they are playing alot of the same tunes. Am I not searching hard enough? So, my question is, would some of you mind sharing how you get the tunes that alot of people are not playing cause they know nothing about them? I have even considered buying a tech turntable or 2 if I can get some new music that is on vinyl that is not on cd or digital. And, I have heard about people that get tracks sent to them thru the mail. How would I go about doing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I am sick of playing tunes that all these other people are playing! Please help!!!

| instead of buying the top 10 off beatport, djdownload and the likes. dig deeper. go into genres u normally do not. you'll find alot of gems if you look hard enough but end up going through alot of as well. that's the consequence you gotta pay for the rise of digital labels. |

| you might want to try playing some old songs, or remixes of old songs. |

So what your saying is the digital sites ruined it in a way because everyone has easy access to all the same tunes? But, there is alot of stuff I have never heard that alot of these big name djs are playing. Do they have first dibs on these tracks? Do producers send these tracks to these guys first, before they are released to the general public? Or, do they just know where to look? And by the way, I have been dipping into alot of other genres latley, and I have found some great tracks. I started doing that not too long ago and have been falling in love with Tech House. That is really great advice!! Thanks!

What type of requirements would you need to get ahold of these tracks first, then?? Would you have to have alot of playtime in the well known clubs? Or is it the amount of money these djs are paying for these tracks? If that is the case how much do they pay to get ahold of them first? |

| I wouldn't be surpized if some of these guys scour the web for tracks 8 hours a day. It seems to be incedibly difficult to locate these hidden gems. I have had some luck finding some "underground" artists, checking their tracklists, and going from there. The real problem I have is the speed of releases. There are so many releases, many of them great choons, I just can't keep up with them. I guess it goes back to scouring the web 8 hours a day to stay on top of the game. |

Just because someone has access to the newest tunes, that does not make them good.
Mix old tunes with new. Find your 'sound'. |

I believe it just comes down to good ol searching, I have found some real gems on digital sites, but you really have to delve deep, I spend alot of time per week just searching and listening to 100s of tracks, and on a good week I can find 10 of them that are good, just takes time.
As for vinyl, same thing, but you can check out local record stores for some super rare records, I have gotten afew rare whitelabels these past few months, tracks that took a while to find the name and then took even longer to find a copy somewhere around this globe, but its well worth it. |
