as a producer...what is your sound?

for me as a producer, my goal is to recreate the sound of the late 90s, early 2000s, mainly because back then i didnt have the knowledge or the equipment to make music, so i missed out on a great era :(

but now, older, wiser and with software i can live my dream of being back in the 90s again :happy2:

im not one of them types who does it for purely for the money (heh now that is a dream) i do it because i enjoy it and if it makes me money, that'll be great and all dogs are a barking ya know? :wtf:

so...whats ur sound? or goal as a producer?

My goal as a producer is to keep feeling proud when I have finished up a track. My sound.... I dunno. It can redefine itself, I don't care. As long as I support it.

I just like to try out different things, so I guess I can't say I have a "sound" as such. I don't really think I have any goals either - as long as I can satisfy myself with the sounds I produce I'm happy.

Are you meaning the sound of a technological era, or the sound of a musical era? With everything today on the DAW it's easy for things to sound a little too "digital" dare I say that dirty word. I try to produce what sounds good and new.

As for musical, I like psy and dark ambience, maybe what I call "Arena Trance" where there is some kind of alarm going off or a siren, and sounds like all hell is breaking loose. LOL. But I also have a fondness for prog house. I usually make what Im in the mood for or if I got a melody or rhythm stuck in my head, I will usually put it down and then develop around it.

that would just make the night awesome if ur track was being mixed into the set and ur on the dancefloor getting heavy :gsmile:

its interesting how some of u guys go for a new sound and stuff, re-defining trance and such. i kinda try to be un-original and produce the stuff that would of been churned out say like in 1999, but with a newish sorta sound, sorta a hybrid between the new and old, the bridge so to speak.

I guess I don't really have a "sound," I just try to make melodies, harmonies, and sounds that make me feel what I feel when I listen to good trance or other electronic music. I figure if I can do that consistently, at least a few other people will probably end up liking my stuff as well.

I try to produce my favorite elements - groove, bongos, full hats/shakers, supersaws, lots of percussion, and of course progresiveness details.

To make really good, though provoking music that might make people dance sometimes too.

my goal is to make great music and promote myself as a dj thru releases, and on the side do recording/engineering for others.. maybe get a job at stargate or something lol..

My goal...hmm, my goals change through every release. I have big dreams you could say and I try to keep my sound fresh and unique with influences from all genres. I try to put every single thing my mind comes up with during the time im producing, into that track. Which may include recording from the guitar, random outdoor recordings with the m-audio multitrack and glitch those up into percussion and all that stuff. I hate bland and mindless crap, I like things with imagination and personality.
