lookin to pick it up as an alternative to CD decks (even tho I have some anyway) I want to start working on the whole ableton/serato/midi controller type sets.

one of the questions I had was, does it have tone control?

like, can I keep the original pitch of the track the same key even tho I speed up and slow down the track?

a friend of mine does straight ableton sets with a midi controller, but I was watching some video online where this dude had 2 CDJs, 2 techs w/serato, ableton and a midi controller and was able to go back and forth with ALL of them and still do all the cool with the controller via ableton, thats kind of the route I would like to go as I'm doing more and more productions stuff and want to really get down the whole "live remix" deal down. those of you that use serato strictly for DJ gigs, what is it that you like so much about it

Bringin laptop n serato stuff to a gig wit out all them damn cds or records. That was what I lved about it.

Best part is saving money and not having to burn CDs. The part I'm wondering about if I'm going to go through the trouble to bring the laptop why bother using the fake records? Why not just DJ out of Ableton?

BAH! better than when I started, trying to map out my entire keyboard & mouse in Live 4, so I'll hear none of it.

...and thanks

I used to use final scratch, but unless your a super star DJ... setting it up is just dumb. Not only does it get in the way of the person in front of you, but... it is just time consuming. I dunno.. I prefer just straight CDJ's.... just my opinion I guess.

Because it is lame.. and unless your a top ranked DJ... your not going to get anywhere doing THAT. :)
