How and what will you produce in 10 years time?

In terms of production.

I was just thinking about this, personally I think I'll be producing the odd melodic trance track but I reckon I'll be heavily experimenting with loads of hardware synths and fx (and software will be much more advanced too).

I probably wont be too arsed about trance really, not in a negative way but I'll just have moved on.

I think it would be cool to make surround sound tracks with sounds flying around from behind me to in front/left right etc. That would be amazing having a synth behind asking the question and the synth in front answering it. Then pads swirling round in a circle round about me.

you're gonna be doing that in 10 years? You're gonna be 10 years behind. BT is already doing that.

If you've got surround sound speakers listen to his new CD in surround sound, you will your pants.
Synchronicity
I've got 5.1 surround sound but only the front three are set up because I have a small room crammed full of stuff. But that sounds quite interesting, I'll need to dig out the sub + rear speakers.

I'll do it better than BT anyway. :p
KilldaDJ

3rd Signal
I'll prolly be sitting in a basemeant working on the new Virus AI...it will make it's own sounds...and prolly be able to control the world if you'll connect it with the new USB20 socket.
Synchronicity
Well maybe you're onto something 3d Signal!

There's the random function that may well become much more sophisticated. Then there's that AAMS Auto Mastering System that (supposedly) tells you how to master your track.

I also remember reading about these guys that had a machine that analysed your finished track. It was really expensive to use and could tell you if it would be successful according to what frequencies were used etc. Load of crap!

Mmm on second thought I think AI music has a long way to go!

I've read and heard to write your melody before you choose your synthesizer timbre. Maybe this works for some people but I find that whatever sound I use influences the melody I write, so it's much more important for me to create an original and interesting sound. Last night I was looking to write a tune from the virus with a supersawish sound, but it was just so hard to come up with anything original and what I did come up with was DJ Sammy Style. As soon as I loaded a weird pad type patch I got a flow of new ideas.

So it was this that made me think I'm really gonna experiment more.
Lunar Phase 7
Synchronicity is 100% right.

I am totally the same, I try emulate a sound, I make .

I throw the rule book out the window it hits some passerby on the head, I make really good stuff.

Seriously guys just do whatever the you like in terms of production, try everything.

i use to travel a lot for work and my laptop had ableton but none of my plugs(all on my external).... so i'd write melodies with 4piano all the time.

now i write most of my melodies with my piano and then come up w/ sounds later. i haven't noticed a different work flow
dj_alfi
