I use Reason 2.5, because the software has no secret for me now, that's the most important I think. You know Derek Howell, Snake Sedrick & Trentemoller use Acid Pro...

Rewire Reason with Logic. Go from there and enjoy both worlds. Both are amazing in thier own right. Learn both if you have to. In the end its all about tweaking and being comfortable with your program and being able to navigate easily. Honestly, its all about knowing your key commands to be more efficient with any program, imo. After that its all about your creative ways. :)

is it possible to rewire the 2 programs? i use Logic 5.5 on my PC, but rewire with Reason doesn't seem to work for me...

You're better off learning one tool properly than learning two tools half-assed and using one to compensate for your lack of knowledge/ability in the other.

That's just my opinion, though.

Logic > reason anyday of the week.

All this statement amounts to is "I like Logic more than Reason."

Pro-quality tracks can be made with just about any software.

For one example, James Holden wrote some of his tracks (Horizons, Bloodlock) with Buzz, a free trackerish program.

But that only goes for people with the drive to learn their tools well. All the rest will be in a perpetual search for the program that can generate "choons" at the push of a button. That's too bad, because it doesn't exist.

It all comes down to your workflow. Try out a bunch of different programs. The one that you're comfortable with is the one that's "best" for you and makes it easiest to write the kind of music you want. And unless you want a function that some program simply doesn't have (ex: audio-in for the case of Reason), that's all there is to it.

Why limit yourself, you can have reason and another sequencer. There are somethings that reason does really well. Remember Rewired?

It's daft to slate that but the self contained aspect of it does put a lot of people off.

You can create pro sounding tracks on most of the major sequencers out there but it is the age old saying that a bad workman always blames his tools...
If you sound like arse in reason, you will sound like arse in all the others too, it's your musical knowledge that needs beefing up.

cheers

I had this discussion a while back on another forum, and after half a day on a forum-buzz I got this entire community on my back for dissing reason. So I won't do that now.

I would definetely go for Logic. Although many famed artists use reason, there are more famed artists that use Logic or Cubase. It is possible to make quality tunes in reason, but from te start that isn't what it was designed to do.

Reason is good on marketing as it has a wider customer base. It's the first thing to buy when you want to get started at producing. So it flies over the shelves. Cubase and Logic where made with a smaller consomer community in mind, the guys who spend hours a week sussing out all the alleyways of the software.

As producing seriously is becoming more and more of an accesible thing these days and the mainstream public is getting more and more advanced; the newer versions of Fruityloops and Reason are becoming more and more sofistcated and are starting to rival the market of Cubase and Logic.

Logic = Midi Champion if youre gonna be doing lots of midi work.

Im trying to get used to it and switching over from FL, either that or Cubase.
