I highly suggest you watch Al Gore's: An Inconvinient Truth and read up a little more on this stuff. The CO2 we are putting into the air is MASSIVELY higher because of of us when compared to the last 500 000 years. There are some facts in that movie that will blow your mind. Global Warming is happening wether you want to believe or not.

alright, well I was a bit sarcastic, but on a serious note from what I read quickly so far, everything suggests, that yes GW is inevitably happening, but it is highly exaggerated

:conf: :conf: :conf: what rock have you been living under? the heat wave in the Mediterranean over the past 3 summers has been so unbearable that a lot of people have died and even rivers have dried out. the issue of global warming started being tabled by the UN internationally in the early 80's (first world conference in Rio de Janeiro...but then again you may not remember that cos you're to busy looking for rip off gucci purses)

:haha: :haha: :haha: for the past 10 years I've been living on a rock called Cyprus, whis IS in the Mediterranean region and the number of people dying from that particular Mediterranean heat, even higher then normal summer temperatures hasn't been any higher then usual... yes temperatures in certain parts of Europe (Italy, France, even Englad at certain points during July-August hot season period) have been higher, but if you bothered to read the articles I quoted, you'd pick up on a certain pinch of sarcasm in my question, since I have NOT denied the existance of GW, merely questioning the global spectrum of it's force.

I agree it may be somewhat exaggerated BUT why not do something about it now, before it gets out of control? We have the technology to do so, so we can only hope that change will come sooner rather than later.

i was there when the heat wave was on. i saw the Danube being lower than it's ever been even since before my grandparents were kids. i know people who died and i know for a fact that there was high alert b/c of the daily high death rates in decades in Italy, France, Germany etc.

and you're right - i don't bother reading your articles.

of course, major pollutants have the access to and resources to install pollution control devices/filters, another question is - do they want to channel those resources into something which doesn't return direct profit

i'm highly in favour of Kyoto Protocol and agreements of this kind (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyoto_Protocol), however some coutries are reluctant to sign them or even stay within the agreement, due to various reasons (http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/...y Kyoto Retreat)

but every effort counts, even if it's just on individual basis, because whatever starts at a local basis always has a potential to grow to a bigger, national/global level

so why do you claim my remark was midless? :conf: you have completely misunderstood what I was trying to say and did the usual TA thing, jump in with unneeded insult

It's called politics...

Take for example Kyoto...I mean it's a big step...but ideally, more strict policies have to be enforced and I think more countries should step up and become more proactive rather than having the superpowers calling the shots...

I'm sure the environment is a problem that needs to be identified by our government and I'm sure there are people advocating the issue...but either our government isn't doing a good job of enforcing the laws here or the government is avoiding the issue altogether because it may pose conflicts on several large companies...
