5-HTP ftw.
my london friends fondly termed sasha's latest warehouse party a rave -- where "lasers were firing off disco balls like a scene out of star wars." :eyespop:  |

rave is a different word in america than the rest of the world. mostly because of the plur movement that claimed ownership of that term creating the negative connotation it has today. in europe, everyone calls a good party a rave, and they have many :(
ps serotonin depletion/5htp suppliments aren't the major risk of mdma. damaged serotonin neurons caused by dopamine reuptake in serotonin receptors which metabolize into hydrogen peroxide (hair bleach/disinfectant) are. this oxidizing effect can be mediated by taking the ssri fluoxetine(prozac) within 6 hours of dropping. |

The John Hopkins study was dismissed due to several glaring errors, the foremost being that they weren't giving the rats mdma but, rather, methamphetamines (speed). Similar claims were made against the Fischer study.
Since then, a variety of studies have been done in the US and Germany - none have been able to show the type of harmful effects produced by the Hopkins and Fischer studies. In fact, German studies have found the exact opposite and have, as of now, found no conclusive evidence as to the dangers of mdma. A lot of this was documented in a CBS special done about 2-3 years ago, which hinted at the above German studies I briefly outlined. My Roommate spent his summer working for one of the American studies - they're set to publish their results in about 4 months.
None of this dismisses any of the above comments because I think anyone who's seen or knows someone who uses the drug excessively can testify to the dangers. Not to mention that a high percentage of the drug, in this country anyway, comes laced with another illegal narcotic (such as speed). Well, that's my .02 - be safe, everyone! |

Brain cancer due to ecstasy use?
Sorry buddy I think the doctors down south are feeding you bull. There has been no conclusive study linking E to brain cancer of all things... |

I've never read/heard of any scientific studies directly linking the use of ecstasy to a specific disease. That is not to say that recreational use of ecstasy does NOT lead to any disease, it's just that there is no proof of that. Therefore, someone telling you that using E causes some disease is just as wrong as someone saying that using E is perfectly safe. As of now, we just don't have enough information/research done to say either way.
As with anything, everything should be done in moderation just to be safe. Or just don't do it at all. I prefer moderation.

Never said I believed anything they said.
Just thought I would post this and read some of the comments others had to say about their experiences. |
