| one of the best for me was frictions, but because d&b doesn't appeal to everyone, it didn't stand a chance, regardless of how much fun it was, and how well mixed. At the end of the day, the trend whores get to sway the vote which is kinda a shame because the best mix isn't always the one they jump onto, dependant of whatever artist is seen as the 'thing' for the year. |

Spot on here, really couldnt agree more. Friction had an excellent EM back in April and Christophe Lawrence/PVD was a nice show as well. The Plastician set was also pretty good if that was this year. |

Anything that makes EM is pretty much popular, just within their respective genres. So to like/bash an EM is to like/bash a popular dj, I think? |

You ain't going to get many drum and bass heads vote for the Essential Mix as the EM is primarliy (to them) a house based dj mix. Some of the tunes coming out in the later half of the year for drum and bass have been exciting especially by Requiem and Commix. |

I'd have picked Ame or Booka Shade.
I really didn't care for the Trentemoller EM the only time I heard it - It's probably pretty decent, it just didn't stick out to me as anything special, certainly not EMOTY material IMO. |

Trentemoller doesn't dj, he only plays live.
I've not heard his em but this years that i have heard have mostly been pretty , so perhaps it was the best of a bad bunch. out of all the ones i've heard i'd go with ame's em. |
