Honestly, I sick and tired of how Christanity is painted as such a bad religion, and Islam and its craziies are given a free bus pass.

The religions are just fine (for the most part). It's some of the so called/selfprocliamed 'followers' who're ed (in the head). There's a big difference between the two Laz ;). |

Like believing in an invisible man in the sky who made everything out of happy thoughts is a good way to lead your life in the first place. Then... THEN he's going to bother talking to some crusty old hermits wandering around in the broke-ass desert and say "Hey grab your biro and jot this down for me..."

Well, the jews invented most of it, then some lunatic cultists of Jesus ran away with bits of it, mixed in a bit of their own and have been spanking themselves for breaking the rules for the last 2000 odd years before another lot of cultists came along and stole bits of both, made it their own and called it good.
Then theres all the bits they added in for good measure after it to make the egg sucking pagans out in the bush find it more appealing and an excuse to get into a fight over who's god had a tail or didnt. |

| So the biblical scholars mis-translated the Hebrew word for "young woman" into the Greek word for "virgin," which was a pretty easy mistake to make, since there is only a subtle difference in the spelling. But back then it was the "virgin" that caught people's attention. It's not every day a virgin conceives and bears a son. So you keep that for a couple of hundred years, and the next thing you know, you have the Roman Catholic church. |

| Virgins back then where just ladies who hadnt given birth rather than the fanciful decoration that the catho's gave it in later years. Theres also a couple of other gods and heros wandering around in other cultures that had parallel sorts of conceptions as well. |

Walk away from it just like that. See thats the problem with people who've never had to deal with issues and back to the problem of ideology being messed with by reality I was talking about earlier.
See, reality has a nasty way of crashing in on all your fanciful ideas of how to make the world a better place and when it all goes to hell, you can just walk away with a whatever and sit somewhere on your pension in your nice 1st world country, with your running water, electricity, internet and luxury appliances, ruminating how those damn hippy kids do nothing but complain.
Complain all you want, call people names and add all the bravado you want, doesnt matter if youre a conservative, christian, black, white, purple, muslim or a hippy who worships a dog called Fred because its nothing but crap when you can just walk away from it at the end of the day and not have to wake up tommorrow with the physical ramifications of your ideals in work on your doorstep the next morning. Both you and Shaolin will walk away from this without anyone losing some skin but maybe a few social graces.
It's a real tragedy to see people talking about torture, imprisonment and religions as some kind of joke.
It's even easier when you've never seen or set a dog on someone to kill or heard the noises they make when it latches on.
It's a world of difference when you are forced to use firearms and violence to actually stop yourself getting killed or force someone to stop doing something.
This isnt your world to comment on, it's just an 'ideal' because you lucky people live in a nice house, probably work in a nice job or go to school in a nice town. Heck maybe you've even been a 'tourist' in some of these foreign countries and afforded the luxury of going back home where its safe after your visa runs out or the tour of duty ends.
In short, you dont get to do anything but post vitriol and ideals here because you've not had to live through anything like you so loudly expose with such proud hatreds for each other worn casually on your sleeve and have never had to genuinely fight for your property and current lifestyles depended on it.
Youre really lucky in that regard so kiss and makeup. ;) |
