or rather, sounds to me as if someone's entirely speculating on one club night b/c a couple of young cats got a gig at pacha.

i'm under the impression that you don't think they've paid their dues...you mention 'free pass' and that 'someone who personally knows them' is hooking it up.

pu-pu-please...

and i wasn't asking if anyone else had a story about some dj's that are passionate about the art...i was just sayin' if anyone knew anything about these cats.

word to the mayor.

im saying theres a lot of new york dj's that have more than paid their dues but get no credit for it, after a decade or more on their decks at home, and thousands of dollars later on vinyl... not to mention, if pacha were USUALLY in-touch with emerging talent and had nights such as this i'd say oh cool, but this comes as a bit of a shock out of no where for them to do something like this, you can't help but think it's all about connects.... i think i saw them open for Morillo maybe one time and it wasnt anything to write home about, they were decent (and played a bunch of songs any other New York DJ was playing at the moment), i just dont get it.... theyve got amazing emerging talent week after week in the basement, why not give THEM a shot at main floor, it just seems, like i said before, that theyre being catupulted into this big gig with a free pass

i suppose the marketing behind this is simply the gimmick. unfortunately, i dont see how this gimmick would work (though the crowd at Pacha is alarmingly young) if the response on these forums are any indication.

Being that young is a great selling point. "Come see these guys, they're so young and playing Pacha already!" Its marketable.

well, every website that this thread is on, has like 4 pages of replies on average so i guess they got what they wanted, whether good or bad, their name's out

Louie Corrales will be doing an opening and closing set on this nite.

look at pacha's line-up for jan 5.

a local's night for nyc. both on the main floor and in the basement.

so you're saying pacha isn't in touching with doing things of that nature? are you not aware of local dj's playing alongside internationally touring dj's on a frequent basis?

also...are you familiar with any other music industries? classical perhaps? child prodigies (and at the risk of sounding like a complete nerd, i'm going to refrain from mentioning them) are given the limelight at such prestigous venues such as carnegie hall.

anyway...i'm over this conversation. get over this perceived concept you have in your mind about marketing, etc. your main man tiesto has an unbelievable machine backing him and a lot of dollars spent on what you're dissing...this whole concept of mkting.

suffice to say, i'd take my man lucien foort over tiesto any day of the week.

Hahaha ya if I knew a big DJ I WOULD be doing crobar/pacha right now too , its like that ... espically in nyc - Theres so many DJS that are in horrible they just get the spot cause they know some one and the real talent gets cut off , thats why you gotta bust your ass . Since halloween I had about 6 gigs in this local club in my area and its going great alot of people are seeing me and loving it , give it time and Im gonna be up there too , but Idk how you just get a main spot @ a club like pacha soo easy >I NEVER IN HEARD OF THEM thats my point ;)

But im not gonna hate cause I wish I got a spot so easy like that too , to do a club with a serious edm crowd is my dream and I know people would hate on me too . So I hope they have fun and rip it up ;)
DJ TRACE
idk I just watched there videos that are up on there myspace lol I dont really hear nor see nothing speical , maybe its cause im just not into that kind of music , deep house puts me to sleeep you gotta be yakked up to enjoy that lol what ever though :p

only one who dosnt put me to sleep in that kind of style of music is sasha cause he drops some sick other then that I think its wack.
