| I've never had it done, but I've heard both "It hurt like hell" and "It was the best thing I've ever done"... so.... I guess YMMV. |

root canal is where the tooth is worn down right to the nerve, it's pretty much the most painful dental procedure there is. I came close to having to have one (An old filling had gone bad & only an x-ray showed it up, he could see the nerve when he filled it) |

My mom had three of these!!!
Most painful thing she went through I think... even compared against surgery on her back, child birth, and a hysterectomy. |

| Honestly, it shouldn't be a big deal. I've had 2 root canals done on me. If the local anesthesia is injected in sufficient quantity, then you should not feel anything at all when the doctor drills through the tooth and kills the nerve ending. Once the nerve is dead it doesn't cause much discomfort, since it is the only part which is sensitive to pain. |
