Ugh, no, being drunk or high only makes you think that the track doesn't suck. You're fooling yourself but you won't fool anybody else.

Drunk may actually be worse because you don't always realize later on that you produced crap. If you're high you just forget everything you were thinking and feeling the previous day, but the emotional attachment to a new track seems to persist through a drunken hangover, causing people to insist that the track is fine, and that in general they produce better tunes while drunk.

There's no limit to the human capacity for self-delusion, but have mercy on the rest of us and produce your tunes with a clear head.

Tell that to Kurt Cobain or James Brown :stongue:

i don't know so far all my top tracks (the tracks that people enjoy the most) have been made while i was high or drunk =/

i'm the same when sober..it just takes longer thats all..when i'm on something ideas just keep on coming..i basically don't hit dead end

You *could* have a few drinks, and just not get completely plastered... the only time I can remember being really hung over was after an office party where they had wine in tiny little plastic cups so it was impossible to keep track of how much you were drinking.

Yeah, I didn't really mean 'everyone'. Although, come to Scotland for a night out and you'll understand where I'm coming from. :D I think were statistically the worst in Europe for alcohol abuse and heart attacks. I blame it on the weather.

Actually, my mum works for the health service and she told me that we are the first generation to have a lower life expectancy than the previous. :nervous:

Sober all the way.

I'm turning 21 this Saturday, and I don't ever plan on getting into any chemical substances.

Sober. Drugs can make certain things sound cool, but they don't make them good.

I've done good stuff while drunk, never tried high but I guess its the same deal. Some people seem to work better while drunk/high others don't. I guess its similar to which daw is the best.

depends...

different chemicals affect different people's brains differently.

personally, i think the most intricate music comes from both sober states and a mixture of chems.

different from person to person though.

James Brown maybe, but couldn't you have picked a better example than Kurt Cobain? :wtf: Yuck.

Don't worry - you may be the pioneers but the rest of Europe is not far behind.
