I think sometimes the wikipedia article gets too wrapped up in trying to explain how a style's sound relates to it's name. For instance, Progressive is not named for the chord progressions. It's named so because it is supposed to be forward thinking and avant-garde.

Actually, originally it was named because of that. It's only later when the descriptions became warped (which would be around the same time uplifting trance started to be referred as just trance).
