My god, streaming bad, and I am not sure if he was even playing half those tracks ha ha. I got into this scene not cause of him, mainstream DJ's? pfff look what you've done.

So many DJs these days are hit & miss with their performances - at least with Tiesto parties it's a pretty safe bet that even if the set was nothing special that you can still come away having had a good time. (assuming you had room to breathe that is)

I would say that Tiesto is probably the biggest hit and miss DJ there is right now....don't get me wrong...I enjoy listening to Tiesto CDs while chillin around the house.....but when it comes to a club he hits and misses so many times in one night let alone performance to performance....I know a DJ cannot be on his game every night and I wouldn't expect them to be but I have yet to leave a Night with Tiesto feeling fully satisfied.....and there are many DJs that have made me walk away at the end of the night saying "This is why I love this music."

Also, don't forget the likes of John Digweed, or Sasha. Both of which had a bigger impact on electronic music than Tiesto ever will, in North America, and globally.

Hmm, pre 1999 that is true, after 1999 Sasha and Digweed went into shadows of the DJ who played more cheesier uplifting music that masses loved. Not that many people can understand/feel/listen Sasha's and Digweed's music.

Can anybody bring live examples to demonstrate the effects of Sasha and Digweed onto EDM? Why does D&S have bigger impact on EDM then Tiesto ever will?

Music is mean of entertainment, spirituality, emotion. Tiesto is a huge entertainer, masses of people wait, talk, prepare, make shirts to go see Tiesto. Thats an impact on emotional and entertainment level. I am more then sure that higher percentage of people will think of Tiesto then Sasha and Digweed when asked about EDM. Tiesto just got himself exposed to the masses worldwide and that's an impact and he did it by playing/producing that "cheesier uplifting" music.

It's all about expectations.... I am more then sure that if DJ Neverheardofbefore went and played a set like Tiesto did, you would be pleasantly surprised witnessing that for the first time, simply because it was unexpected. Disappointment is a factor that is controlled by expectation.

Never expect things and you are not going to be disappointed. Just enjoy, especially if you are paying over 50 bucks to get into club.

Good point

I will always enjoy listening to tiesto while chilling up at the cottage or at home....but I just can't enjoy his sets in North America.....I do want to see Tiesto in Holland or anywhere in Europe...I think his performance there would be unbelievable.

It was one song, for christ's sake, let it go already. You all make it seem like listening to 5 minutes of feedback would have been better than listening to one hp-hop song. God forbid you listen to something outside your tight little box of musical preference.

They've done the same thing, except on a much smaller scale. Tiesto's influence alone eclipses all of the DJs you mentioned here combined.

How exactly is producers trying to make hit after hit a bad thing? What is good for the scene in your opinion then? They're not *hoping* their track will be a big hit, they write music that they think a lot of people will like. It's not as easy as you make it sound.

If I pay to see a Trance Dj then thats what I want to hear. If I wanted to hear top 40 cheese I would go to a regular club and not an afterhours or a trance event.

LOL, if I am paying 50 bucks to get into a club you can bet I'm going with some expectation.

the hour is actually a really cool show, i loved george on muchmusic and now that he's here i'll watch this show more often
last night i saw his interview with brian may and roger taylor and later on with edward norton, really cool .

I just watched that now...Tiesto really looked bored and said the same thing(s) he always does in interviews. But bah, it's my feeling that Tiesto doesn't really care or feel the music/emotion anymore. His sets are so random these days, I dont know...

plus that Dance4Life track that he made is just ing bloody awful.

I won't be surprised if Tiesto goes the way of Oakenfold in the next few years.

I'm not surprised that Tiesto has gone the way of Oakenfold long ago, ever since he tried to incorporate different styles into most of his sets and failed miserably.
