Mike Shiver has always been a name I have personally looked out for.
Mike's a good friend of mine, along side one of the best talents to grace 1015’s Main room decks.
I have always anticipated his mixes and new tracks, and cant wait to hear what he has in store for us this time around!!!
On January 26th, the man behind the legendary track “Feelings” and recent hit "Morning Drive” arrives to 1015 to Rock your Body, Minds, and souls. I have the great honor of opening up the mainroom for him.
To celebrate his return to 1015, I am offering up not one, but 2 new remixes for you all to download. I added a mix here recently on Tranceaddict, with all the emails I received and PM’s. I have dedicated myself to providing a mix every 2 weeks or so. The next mix I will complete will be ready for download next week.
My Inspiration comes from a new found friend, Matt Darey, who gracefully rocked the outta 1015 last NYE weekend, not once.. but twice!
Dj Blurr - Bliss (Jan 2006 Remix) & Dj Blurr – Code of Light (New Year Remix)
This again is another stellar event brought to you by the FINE people over at Club 1015 Folsom. Another 250 CD Giveaway will be also be in order from yours truely, with more surprises in store as the weeks unfold.
Come witness the club in the new form. Newly built VIP Sections, with walkway and a new view of your favorite dj from above, 4 Hi-Definition Video screens, and of course, the Kryo cooler Machine!!!!
Not to mention, some of the best ING Lazers and lightshow anywhere!!! :thepirate

"Anyone who does not know Mike Shiver, is really missing out"
Interview with Mike Shiver (TAKEN FROM TRANCE.RO)
Producer, DJ & Label Manager, Mike has been one of the most talked about up and coming talents over the last two years. December 2003 saw Mike start his own label, Captured Music, first release 'Sonicvibe & Mike Shiver - Lunation".

Mike Shiver says: "I do all from progressive trance to harder trance under various project names. But mainly what I do is uplifting/euphoric trance which I believe most of the listeners out there knows me for".
Tranced.ro: Hi Mike! First of all can you tell us a bit about yourself?
Mike Shiver: Hi Guys! I'm coming from the more northern parts of Sweden and I live a pretty normal life just like many others. I work durng the weeks and when finally the weekend hits, I'm happy to leave the studio for a moment. Except working I usually spend my time with my nearest and dearests.
T.ro: How would you describe your style at the moment?
MS: It's hard to describe my music as I'm really doing various stuff at the moment. I do all from progressive trance to harder trance under various project names. But mainly what I do is uplifting/euphoric trance which I believe most of the listeners out there knows me for.
T.ro: You're a busy man nowadays, you have your own show at Di.fm named 'Captured Radio' and you just made a special mix for Euphoria on the Ministry of Sound Radio. What are your future plans for your dj career?
MS: Yeah, I'm happy for being a 'busy' man when it comes to these things. I've been DJing for around 6 years and things have really been taking off since I started to release my own music through various labels like Lost Language and offcourse my own label Captured Music. The plans for my future DJing are currently looking great and there is more to come. I have gigs coming up in the States for example (San Fransisco & Vancouver), and more gigs are beeing booked throughout europe at the moment. There is more as well which i cannot reveal at this point, but I always try to keep the people updated as much as possible through my website www.mikeshiver.com - Feel free to visit it! :)
T.ro: How do you see the trance scene now? Many people have diffrent views, some say it's too cheesy, some say it's great, what's your point of view.
MS: I think the trance scene has been very much up and down lately. I think the main reason is that so many people are trying to make trance these days and there are so many labels out there as well, and unfortunately I would say some of todays releases aren't the best quality ones due to the quantity. What I think in general about the trance scene and what i've noticed pretty much lately is that there's been so much negativity around the online trance forums. One other thing is that there's been many rewordings the last time. Words like 'Cheesy' has turned out to be a pretty 'negative' kind of expression for some of today's trance tracks while we also have seen many people are saying that uplifting trance is called nowadays 'ASOT-Trance' which I personally also think is a pretty negatively kind of rewording. (Although it's probably a great thing for Armada Music marketing, hehe). About the music itself it's been taking some progressive turns lately and this will probably change as well...it's just like a trend you know. Who knows what the next big thing will be? Anyways, I could go on for hours about this, but i think we should move on to the next question :)
T.ro: Ok. Let's talk a bit about your producing, what can we expect form Mike Shiver this year?
MS: I haven't planned my schedule 100% this year, but there is certainly lots of music to come out. I've been working pretty hard in the beginning of this year to finish some remixes which is set to be released before the summer. One of them is the remix of Lost Witness which has been promoed pretty lately and it's been pretty successful so far. We have a remix of Positiva's own Kenny Hayes along with more remixes which I unfortunately cannot reveal at the moment. When it comes to my own productions, there are certainly also more to come. I'm currently working on my followup with Sonicvibe to our last release 'Lunation' - expect trancy stuff as usual, but with a little different turn. I have various sideprojects coming up as well, both solo ones and collaborations. One of the sideprojects to mention is 'Madeira' which is a solo project of mine. The first single is finished and currenly beeing hammered by many 'big' DJs. The track is set to be released soonish on the UK label Motion Music with a stunning Smith & Pledger Remix. Except the sideprojects I definately working on a new solo Mike Shiver track which is supposed to be the followup to my very successful track 'Feelings' that went out on Lost Language. The followup is soon finished and there are gonna be lots of information about this tune and all others on my website, so keep an eye open!
T.ro: We know that you are working on a new track with our own romanian artist Sonicvibe, can you tell us a bit about the future track?
MS: Yeah, as I mentioned earlier, we are working at this moment on it and it's turning out very well so far! I'm very happy with the result we've made. We didn't finished tho, but it looks to be a pretty banging track but different from 'Lunation' tho! And like I said, it will have a bit different turn than we usually do (at least that's what we intended to do). We shall see when it will be finished!
T.ro: We've noticed that you updated your website but it's still in beta version, how will the final version look and what can we espect form it?
MS: The final version will look pretty much with the same design, but its' gonna include more features as well as a very nice looking flash navigation. Some of the new features will be a very own guestbook where people can sign in and give me their feedback about me and my work or what so ever you wanna say. I'm looking forward to it and it's not far from beeing uploaded now.
T.ro: Which are the best 5 trance tracks at the moment in your opinion?
MS: I have so many tracks i really dig at the moment, but let's see...
1. Mirco De Govia & Ronski Speed - Asarja [Euphonic]
2. Matthew Adams - In Balance [Cookies'n'Cream]
3. Yilmaz Altahan - Eighties (Özgür Can Remix) [Anjunabeats]
4. Leon Bolier - My Precious (Mesh Remix) [Captured Music]
5. Ava Mea - In The End [Coldharbour Records]
T.ro: Final Scratch seems to becoming popular with djs these days. How do you feel working with a laptop rather than with the real cdplayers or turntables?
MS: I don't know really as i haven't tried it at all, but I think i would prefer the real vinyl really.
T.ro: You are the owner of a quality trance label 'Caputred Music', what are the plans for the future, will you promote other styles exept trance?
MS: We have new plans for the future, but I cannot say much about what exactly we are planning to do at this moment, but to answer your question about styles, we are gonna be more open for various styles of trance music. After you have heard our nextcoming release 'Leon Bolier - My Precious' - you will notice by then that we are moving a bit different. You can already now read more about that release on www.captured.nu and whois behind it etc.
T.ro: Since you are the first who colaborated with a romanian trance artist what's your opinion about the trance scene from Romania?
MS: Hehe, I just thought Daniel aka Sonicvibe was a great kid and we've been working pretty well along with eachother and our first release was very successful. So I'm happy to be working with da romanian guy :) Although I wouldn't say I know much about the romanian scene itself or about the country either. Maybe one day I'll might show up at any of your local clubs and then hopefully I will know more :)
T.ro: Speaking of colaborations have you thought about making a new project with another trance artist?
MS: Yeah, I've been already working with other guys like Ashkan Fardost aka Envio and currently I'm discussing with the guys behind Alt+F4 about an eventual collaboration, but that's really not what I have in focus tho. So I guess that's gonna be a later project.
T.ro: Fianly if you could say a few words for our romanian public and maybe give them some advice.
MS: It's always a bit ingenious to squeeze out some great words and advices, but I wanna thank all people out there who are supporting me and if some of you all romanians out there haven't heard about Sonicvibe! Then you shall really look him up. You can find further information about him on www.captured.nu and i think his website is soon to be online aswell on www.sonicvibe.net - so give him all support you can!
T.ro: We would like to thank you for the time that you spent with us for making this interview and hope this year we'll have alot of great news about Mike Shiver. |
