In a vid (was it from Remembrance weekend?) when a beat dropped and the lights just LIT UP the whole room like as if a sun went off or a star exploded! That was ing cool. :happy2:

I don't think anyone is saying they are an "expert" in lighting, we are merely just sharing our opinion about what we like and don't like.

Relax dude. Don't take it personally. I'm not attacking you personally. You're actually good at what you do. I've seen you at work many times before.

You do have to admit though that it is really annoying when people go overboard with the lights.

I'm not an expert, nor did I pretend to be. I'm merely giving my opinion, and trying to stimulate discussion on lighting effects.

I agree about the overusage of lighting in small clubs - it isn't as necessary as when you're at a massive with thousands. Then I feel it is appropriate to lazor, strobe, and use the "day" lights as much as you want in keeping with the tunes spinning.

But the lighting at This is London was ridiculous - check out the two vids I took from above the dancefloor. Fackin' manic!

Thus far, the Guv has had the best lazors I've ever seen and I agree with Graham on Sonic having the most creative light setup. The best timed strobes have to be here in Denver at Vinyl - they are used sparingly and at appropriate moments. Otherwise, the club is a nice dark lower ceilinged fest of bass and tunes.

I don't like lights at all, give me CZ darkness anyday. I can't see a damn thing with the lights flickering and dancing around me at Gallery, Footwork, etc....

I don't claim to be an expert either but as a clubgoer I think I am entitled to an opinion on the club enviroment.

I love lasers and strobe lights.. the more the better. When I'm at the guv, I'm as blown away by the lasers going everywhere as I am the music sometimes. Maybe it's cause I do dj/lighting at a club that was a very weak laser system, so I appreciate the fact that I'm actually in a presence of something more than half decent.

i think lasers are uber cheesy.

i like a darker environment when i am in a club. what that means in regards to what lights they have, i know not. but no lasers!!!

thinking back on it, i think i always like the lights at aria cos they were very minimal (and in the floor!) and it was dark, from what i remember. i could be wrong though!
