The 'insurgents' have 3 military advantages over the US in Iraq.
1) higher tolerance for chaos
2) higher tolerance for casualties
3) A tried and tested method of using these to defeat the US (Viet Nam)
The only tool the US has to mitigate these advantages is by insulating you from the truth in Iraq. There is a simple litmus test that you can apply to yourself to see if you are being successfully insulated. The test is to answer the following question:
"What do you think of TCNs in Iraq?"
If you don't immediately recognize the acronym then you have been successfully insulated, regardless of your opinion on whether the troops should stay or leave. |

| quote: | | A recent DOD investigation...identified a number of abuses, some of them considered widespread, committed by DOD contractors or subcontractors of third country national (TCN) workers in Iraq. Some of these abuses are indicative of trafficking in persons.... |
Interesting...
So the truth behind the conflict in Iraq amounts to human trafficking? It doesn't come as a surprise that it was for economic reasons, and it also does not come as a surprise that this information would be as closely guarded as possible. |

The truth is related to war and victory. You've cited a story that involves TCNs, but the point I was making was as follows...
CNN, FOX, CBS, BBC, ABC, NBC, all want the exact same thing. For the US to win.
Reporting of the Truth comes a distant second to wanting your country to win a war. The corollary that goes along with that is:
People don't know what TCN means for the exact same reason... they want their country to win the war... and being insulated is a citizen's best contribution to the war effort.
Naturally I'd love to discuss the Truth, but Michael Richards might be a racist, so you'll understand if me and 100 million other pro-active citizens swivel in his direction. War Bonds come in many forms... Just ask Rosie and Mr. Trump.
Rock beats Scissors
Civil War beats Insulation
Oh Crap, I've broke all the rules of Victory Club. |

Ah, well I realized what your greater point was, I was just focusing on the term TCM because I obviously did not know what it meant before and had to go look up an article relating the term to American involvement in Iraq. I guess maybe the time for causality has long passed though...
I think that most every war has been waged in the hearts and minds of the people though. At least that is where the 'true' war has been taking place for several millennium. It's interesting that so many parallels are being drawn between this conflict and the Vietnam war though - Vietnam was one of the first wars that was truly 'televised' in the modern sense of the word. As the world and its technology has changed, so has the way that war is waged in the hearts and minds. Ignorance has always been exploited by those authorities wishing to 'win' a war, but never before has it been so complex, I don't think. Like, how does the average citizen know that what he or she is seeing on the television is not filmed on a Hollywood set anymore? Or computer generated? The world and the country have changed so much since Vietnam that the propaganda machine has to turned into a pseudo-religion just to win the faith of the people. Interesting what sorts of faith it elicits in people - even those who do not regularly have religious beliefs... |

Oh, right, thread topic...
The title pretty much sums it up adequately.

They are now merely fertilizer for conspiracy theories.
They are now fertilizer, indeed. |

I received an e-mail yesterday about how Bush has decided to progress this B.S. war further. Why don't the American people impeach him?! Seriously... more than half the American people don't want to be in war, but he totally ignores the people and not only does he continue the already B.S. war, he starts a new one no less.
What a ing douche bag.
If there was a president that should have been sniped, it's Bush.

| It would take like 2 years to impeach him and we'll have a new president before then anyways. :| |
