FYI-Tonic water is..TONIC WATER.

I don't know about you American folk, but here in this Canada-land, we have enough vocab to be able to give everything it's own name.

We call Tonic Water Tonic Water here in the good 'ol Pacific Northwest. Crazy Texans!

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The West

Your accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you're a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta.

North Central

The South

The Inland North

Philadelphia

Also, here in Ohio, I have always heard "soda", "pop", and "soft drink" used interchangeably. For many years I had no idea that some people didn't know some of those terms.

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

So bland.

Better than a Southern accent, though. :o

And I was raised in Texas.

Speaking of accents...I met a whole new crew of friends over the past few months and all of them are hispanic (Puerto Rican, Honduras, Colombian, etc…). They have really thick accents, and sometimes when I’m talking, some words come out the way THEY say them, it’s really funny actually. I am around them so much, and talking with them constantly, I find myself sounding like that on accident. It just slips out. Anyone else have that happen sometimes?

My friend told me that I have a gift for languages because I pick up on accents perfectly. You only have to tell me how to say something in a different language once, and then I'll repeat it perfectly with the accent.

i've acquired a bit of a midwestern accent since i moved to Wisco... or maybe it was always there, but i certainly never realized it when i was living in NY, nor did any of my friends... but holy is it weird to go back to NY and hear all my old friends talking with thick NY accents.

RJT makes fun of me for the way i pronounce "bomb" though, because its one of the few words i have a NY accent on... "BAWWWWM"

and i make fun of him for pronouncing "bagel" like "BEG-el"... LOLOL
