The major paper for my PhD thesis was accepted for publication in the Astrophysical Journal and is now online here: http://xxx.lanl.gov/abs/astro-ph/0701441
The paper concerns Spitzer Space Telescope and ground-based infrared observations of the famous 'double cluster' h & chi Persei. The main results of the paper are that the lifetime of protoplanetary disks have a strong anticorrelation with stellar mass and that such disks clear from the inside out. Or to put it another way, disks around high mass stars evolve fast (if they form at all) & those around lower mass stars evolve more slowly; disk regions close to the star evolve fast, those further away evolve more slowly.
These 'disks' I think I've found evidence for are probably in a highly evolved state. This point is explored further in a companion paper I'm working on, the conclusion of which may be of great interest for studies of planet formation. |

yup it's kinda hardcore ... though it seems simple compared to some of the theory papers, especially in theoretical cosmology, that get published. I'm no Lisa Randall :D |

Pssh, I've been saying that for years. |

I don't have my doctorate yet. Maybe in a year ... |

Never met Hawking, I've seen Rees give a talk at AAS a few years ago. The guy's research output is something to marvel at. |

Cool man, congratulations :) Are you the first author on that paper ?
I have submitted my Masters thesis journal paper to IEEE Transactions on Mechatronics. Waiting to hear from them. It takes a long time for the reviewers to get back. I am guessing we'll hear something from them after 5-6 months. Recently one of my papers got accepted for presentation and publication in the American Control Conference (ACC 2007). It was an exciting moment for me because ACC is one of the best conferences in America on Controls and Automation related technology. |

Yes, I'm the first author on the paper. Good luck on your master's thesis paper. |
