I just ignore the threads that are a breeding ground for that stuff. I used to always have to click on them but now I could care less.

Here's what I observed;

This community may be a little harsh on noobs, but it's all for the better. I was once one of those noobs, and after being here for almost two years, I've learned a thousand times more about music than I had for the rest of my life combined. Some of those grumpy older members act in such a way because they're watching something they care very much about go to s while poppy cheesy commercial filler is filling the airwaves. That being said, I've seen far, far more hostile attitudes coming from the so called 'ASOT' crowd insulting more experienced members and branding them all as 'haters', even when they were just peacefully sharing their experience of music.

This is completely off-topic to everything, ever, but I keep seeing this phrase a lot. Is it a typo or is it a dialectical variation of "couldn't care less"?

That would be quite a variation, meaning the opposite. :happy2:

We might as well have one of these 'hate the old people' threads stickied for the number of times one is made in a month. ASOT music could be played in the background while everyone talks about how awesome it is and how its 'grumpy' and evil not to like it.

I keep seeing it as well, the way it's written as you quoted surely means "this topic is of interest to me" but it's pretty obvious the poster didn't mean that!

It's ridiculous to be a music missionaire. It's not ridiculous to try to defend in a fair way the music you like, and be genuinely fed up of people being ignorant of the music you like. While it's undeniable some do the former, I think I've seen more of the later.. lately.

Yeah I've wondered that, I say 'I couldn't care less', which seems to be more accurate.

No, not really, at all.

Please show me where I have fallen under any of the following:

quote:

- What gives these 'missionaries' the right to openly criticize somebody who's just ventured into exploring electronic music? Is he/she in the wrong for the type of music they've chosen to explore?

- Why do so many of these missionaries think that they're indispensable pillars of the EDM community. As if, if they were to vanish into thin air one day, an acopolypse would obilerate EDM off the face of this earth and all hope for it's revival would be lost. Are they that self-absorbed and deluded into thinking that their loss would be an irrecoverable one?

- I've also come across a large number of stubborn newbies who refuse to broaden their musical horizons. With good intentions in mind, it is then that these missionaries again go on a crusade to actively rectify these newbies. If these newbies want to stay in a fool's paradise and be complacent, why aren't they just left alone? Why do the missionaries relentlessly continue to flog a dead horse?

In fact, you'll see that most of the time, I'm just the opposite.
