interesting read.
i'm in south america now and ive met ALOT of Israelis down in the Patagonian Andes (they love trekking) some of them are great fun to hang around (ive done a few treks with them) although they normally travel in groups and are extremely cliquey. I find their mentalities fascinating, my friend from San Francisco calls it "group think" but considering they've just done a few years military service you cant blame them for their indoctrination (id have the same group mentality if i was forced into their situation at such a young and impressionable age) but every now and again you meet an Israeli who has a very different viewpoint to that forcefead upon them by their military; one Israeli girl was telling me how you were a hundred times more likely to get hit by a car than a rocket fired into Israel from Palestine but the IDF used this as an excuse to justify their brutal oppression against the Palestinians.
Ive learnt alot about the average Israeli these last two months (considering there are so many down here to talk and travel with) and ive managed to help a few Israelis see both sides of the conflict (which is very hard but im very good with words :p) the majority of them however are too heavily ingrained with everything their Media, Army, Parents, and Peer Group have led them to believe - which of course is a shame but i guess i would have the same problem trying to help Palestinians see the average Israelis view of this conflict
but im yet to meet a Palestinian travelling abroad, and as long as theyre trapped by the shackles of poverty and oppression i doubt i ever will :( |

Dude, come on. You already know I don't have any prejudices when it comes to the Jewish people. I don't equate Zionism with being Jewish, I've stated that several times before. It pains me to see you might actually think that. :( |
