Moving to NYC in February

Finally making the long awaited move out of the suburbs in February. Looking for a place in Queens / Brooklyn, ideally between Astoria and Williamsburg. I'll be working near Union Square so being in close proximity to the 7 or L trains is key. Anyone know of good leads / ideas?

To the CT TA's, I'll be at Room 960 on Feb 9 for Above & Beyond (my last day at current job), so I hope to see you there, and if not then hopefully in NYC.

Congrats on the move from CT, I did the same thing a year and a half ago and have never regretted it...

I don't think you're going to want to take the 7 train to get to union square. That runs up east/west at 42nd street. You probably meant the L, which runs accross 14th street.

Other options would be anthing on the east side. The 4/5 express to a lot of nice places on the upper east. You can find a decent spot in the 70's/80's on the east side, and take the 4 to union square in roughly 30 min. Really though, sooooooooo many trains go to or nearunion square, you could live just about anywhere you like. Just don't look for 7 train options :)

Welcome to NYC!

The trains that go directly to Union Square are:
4/5/6/N/R/L trains(4th Avenue/Park Avenue South and 14th Street)

close in proxmity:
6avenue/14th Street - F, V Train
7avenue/14th Street - 1,2,3 Trains

are you looking for a room or an apartment?

Astoria, Long Island City, Greenwich Village, Williamsburg, Park Slope/Caroll Gardens/Bedford, Lower East, Upper East (altho expensive) would be decent options. It all depends on budget.

The 7 DOES transfer to the N/R as well as the 4,5,6 so that would give you more possibilities.

He's not looking to OWN I'm sure. If he has a couple of roommates, it's very doable. Friend of mine lived with like 3 roommates in a HUGE place for like $1,500 each. Don't you sass me!;)
