No, thenks. I just have everything set so nobody can see anything I put on there, unless I've added them. Problem solved.

I laughed just reading the article. If people can't see the humour and chuckle, or at least shrug it off, then perhaps it's them who should check whether they're trying to compensate for deeper-seated feelings by overreacting to small things like this. Guilty conscious much?

Racism will be dead the day I can walk into a bar with a mexican, a black man, a jew and an asian, crack a bunch of racist jokes and hear nothing but laughter (assuming they're good jokes of course), and possibly some white-trash jokes in response. As long as people keep viewing race as some serious, deep-seated issue and segregating themselves, racism will occur, and minorities and white people are equally to blame for this, imo.

They're just imitating the caricatures of black people fed to them by the media. And yes, the media feeds them these caricatures because people find them entertaining and the media profits. It's the loop of capitalism.

Race is a strange subject in America. It's like in certain contexts you can't be just "a person" here, but have to be "a black person" or whatever. There's some video on YouTube where a black guy and white guy are standing in an elevator and the black guy's thinking, "I hope he's not thinking about how I'm black," and the white guy's thinking, "I hope he's not thinking that I'm thinking about how he's black." There's still a little open conflict over race, but it's not as common as that odd (and sometimes comical) kind of tension.

only in the USA is it allowed to have a club for (insert race here) in school but not a white club. not that i am racist but its a double standard that has been engrained into our society. im not sure if its this whole gay ass politically correctness craze or what but its utter bull. these kids are just that. kids. kids do stupid things. we all have and probably still do at times. its unfortunate that these degenerates take things too seriously. i dont call a garbage man a waste management engineer. hes a garbage man for gods sake. i dont care what he WANTS to be called i will call it as it is. and this is just a party, as someone mentioned earlier, making fun of sterotypes. theres a phrase for that. i think its called political satire?

There's a reason for this, which is that certain "all white clubs" in the past were openly and sometimes violently racist. But I agree, people should be able to form clubs for whatever reason they choose, and it's time to let the past be past.

Sometimes it does get ridiculous, and I agree that there's no reason to regulate speech, although places like private universities can of course regulate whatever they want. At the same time, I think sentiments like, "I don't care what that dude wants to be called, I'm going to call him a nigger!" are justly considered backward and ignorant. Not saying that you would say something like that or that such opinions should be criminalized. They shouldn't be.

For what the kids were doing at the party? I would hardly call that "political," although I wouldn't impute any evil motives to them, either. They were just having fun with the stupid images that most everybody gets bombarded with on a daily basis in America.

I don't think anyone would have taken this seriously if it did not happen in Texas.

Not really, the party in the second link happened in Connecticut.
Enigmatic XTC
You know, if there had been even one black person there, no one would give a . The only reason anyone cares is because they were white. Maybe if the more famous black people would quit acting like this, then white people would quit thinking that this is how they act. What a novel ing idea.

Haha, I hate that too. I remember when I went on a school camp in 7th grade and the bus drivers for the 16 hour trip there insisted we call them 'coach captains' the entire way. It's not a coach, it's a bus, you're not a captain, you're a bus driver, you drive buses for a living. Should have thought harder about dropping out of highschool, so stop trying to glorify your ty job and either accept it or make something better of yourself.

It pissed me off even then, and now even more when I think back on it.

Clearly, the Connecticut incident was directly inspired by the Texas incident. I mean, for seriousz. :stongue:
