PS. DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A GOOD MECHANIC IN THE LA AREA????????
i spun out getting on the 101 while driving toward spundae and ruined the right side of my rear axel... my car is still in LA off 2nd street. (i live in corona lol)
I know of a pretty good and reasonable one that is in Montebello on Washington Bl.

I had a good time. I don't go out that much, so it was nice to see people I haven't seen in a while (Gypsygirl, neinerlove, Ben (because I can't even type or say your TA screen name correctly ;), KarenLuvs2Party (hope your n00b friends had fun :), Michelle #2, sweetcandy girl(Michelle #1 :), etc.
I really liked Victor's set in the mainroom and Basic Perspective's in the backroom. Was something wrong with the sound in the backroom? It sounded kinda muddy, like a droning, reverberating hum? It was really loud! The sound in the loft seemed better.

I just want to thank everyone for the energy and love you all gave me last night. I couldn't believe how packed the loft was all night. What a way to close out Spundae @ Circus. Thank you for dancing, thank you for listening and thank you for the memories.

well, everybody knew what my opinion of JG's set...
ANNOYINGLY UNPLEASANT TO THE EARS!
it was definitely the worst mixing i've heard. the backroom and loft djs were much better with their track selections and mixing with a little hints of effects here and there.
however, JG was just whack! unless your brain was totally ed up, this guy is so anticlimactic! was overdoing all the effects and it was all noise! he'll just play maybe 1-2 minutes of the melody and then 5 minutes of noise.:whip: :whip: :whip:
the only worthwhile thing last night was to see you guys up and about :D
WOW, I CANNOT AGREE MORE, that is if by JG you mean Johan blabla. incredibly borin and annoyin set. lofty is def my fav all night. aneway, great great night. hopin spundae keep up this style at avalon. lookin 4ward.
Here's one of the shots that describes the night, D'MORSE tore the room up along with Bob and Victor. Good job guys!!!

I actually think that Johan's a pretty brilliant DJ: amazing energy, good track selection and special effects that I hear few DJ's every try to attempt. Plus his set was being recorded live for his "In Session" radio show which is broadcast in Holland, so we should all be able to d/l his mix soon and listen for ourselves. Don't get me wrong, I didn't worship every single track he played or anything, but few DJ's can play every song that a particular person likes. I also heard some continual distortion, which was likely either because the mixer volume was jammed up too high (into the red), or there may have been issues with the sound system (it's usually the mixer volume though).
Here's a 2-minute video of Johan's set. I'm interested to get more opinions on whether the way Johan mixes and brings effects into the audio is considered 1) noise or 2) a higher form of musical intelligence:
On top of being a good DJ, Johan's very down to earth too, signs everything, takes pictures and even talks with people who don't have backstage VIP passes!
Funniest part of the night was when I went to the back room for Gil's set and Bob asks me "did you hear my set tonight?" Um, no sorry, I wasn't there... ;)
j/k...it was great, Bob had the main room packed by 10:30!
Victor's set started nice, but I had a craving for a beef quesedilla, chatted with Ben for awhile outside and soon Johan was on!
Many thanks to Bob, Johan, Victor, DMorse, Gil and everyone else who's sets I didn't have time to hear for making Spundae Circus' Last Supper at a memorable experience! I'm looking forward to the next chapter in our musical journey! :D

i'm not questioning johan's personality. i'm pretty sure he's a good guy.
but i know how to decipher between noise and music. noise is noise but music can make my head bob and my feet shuffle.
