| I heard from someone yesterday that 514 is supposed to have gotten the rights to throw Arrival this year, and they were sayng to expect to see the best lineup in the last 5 years. I don't know if it's true, I think my friend said he read it in the hour magazine. |

I heard the same thing at the beginning of the year but not from an official source, I went last year to Arrival for the first time It was cool especialy the Sunrise but then it s like over even if the music continues but I invite everyone to go to an outside rave at least once, it s realy kewl |

| All right, I could see how they would lose cash because of marketing costs, but I don't see why the party would have to be canceled, wouldn't they be allowed to offer an exchange on the tickets for what ever they'll change the event name to, instead of having to refund everyone? That would really suck for them if they lose swirl, but I didn't buy an early ticket, and don't plan on spending 70$ on a ticket now, so not such a big loss to me, sorry :P |

If you think about it, a name is not only four letters long... a lot of money is involved. If they lost the trademark for the name swirl, that name cannot appear on any ticket that have already been sold (pre sale), as well as having to change the entire theme by itself... In my opinion, if 514 has been sued for using the name swirl, the must pay for damages when it comes to advertizing... their site, the tickets, and all others. 514, if it is faced with that, will choose to cancel the show rather than deal with headaches... court battles tend to last a long time.
This is just what I think would happen, I'm not even sure they have been sued because I've not heard of it, except for this forum... the next 20 days should be interesting to see what happens... :confused:

I thought 514 was always the "owner" of the name?? What do you mean that there are two 514 production companies or something.
Did someone buy out 514 because in that case they buy all the trademarks that they own also. I really don't understand. |

I know there's the pre and post Sona, before 514 completely took over.
how exactly can they be sued and cease promotion in 2 days, they've been using the Swirl trademark for 8 years, that's ridiculous, that would NEVER hold up in court.
