Yee... And he's responsible for keeping the EDM scene in India alive.:)
nikhil chinapa
@ Dirtyfilthy - yes.

@ Funkysouls... the scene in India will stay alive in some form or the other... there are just far too many people to let it die completely... but yes, the Goa beach parties Submerge organises do help :)

I'm really looking forward to hearing j00f play... his msn.co.in interview will be up tomorrow and I'll post a link, if anyone's interested.

If all goes well, we're hoping to be able to get DJs like Ferry Corsten, Eddie Halliwell, David Guetta, Roger Sanchez et al interested in the scene in India, as more and more clubs wake up to the potential of EDM, and more people are exposed to it across India.

Unfortunately "broadband" in India is more a spiritual state of mind than reality. So in most cases, the only way of exposing people to these sounds, is bringing it to the clubs and bars they frequent. Not everyone is passionate enuf to download/stream sets at 5kbps... :haha: and few can afford "real broadband" as of now.

The good news is, if .005% of Bombay's population was into EDM, that'll still be 10,000 people...:eyespop: The trick is to get them together in one place, and at one time.....

So if anyone wants to help the scene in India out, post live sets, travel to India on a holiday and play the odd gig, help the n00bs understand EDM... drop either me or Allied Nations a PM...

LOL.

a club in Bangalore? That's awesome. Woulda been nice if such a club had existed the last three trips (last year) I was over there :sadgreen:

you forgot to mention j00f's residency in Ibiza but that's alright. Won't hold it against you :D

EDIT: oh yeah, I recall seeing some photos from Digweed in Bangalore. Things are looking up over there it seems.

Bangalore's had clubs since the 80's... where were you? The Club, Knock out, Time and Again, Concorde, Spinn, Fuga, Hint, Nyxx, Club X... all have contributed to the growth of EDM, and hip hop in Bangalore. Not to mention the outdoor raves that get busted by the police on Mysore road.... :haha:

Right now Fuga rules the roost... with a kick-ass console set up, lights and a flying EV rig. We also put up screens and run live graphics for our gigs... a few DJs are learning the ropes at handling the graphics and lighting set-up too.

If you thought Bangalore's pics from Diggers gig were good... you should've seen the mayhem that was Bombay!!! :)

And stay tuned for pics from j00f's gig....

EDIT : Sorry, just remembered... there was a club in the 70's too... called "Blue Fox" or something... and I remember an aunt telling me she'd skip college and go with her boyfriend to dance to Elvis records in the 60's as well... all in Bangalore:crazy:
@Lord Falkland... will see you at Squeeze on the 7th... :)
lord falkland
@nikhil...
ill be there for sure...:)

To clarify, I meant to say trance/EDM nights. I was checking the submerge forums to see what was going on during the time I was over there but there was never any major parties advertised for Bangalore. I found some nice clubs (or 'pubs' as the locals refer to them) to hang out at so I still had fun.

My bad... Bangalore's always had a good EDM scene, but no websites been listing anything. We're soon adding a section to the Submerge site (thanks for the support btw) that'll list places/nights to go to in various cities... As you can see, j00f's night's creating just a little bit of hysteria :haha:

And Bangalore's my hometown... so the next time you're in that neck of the woods... drop me a PM. We'll look after you...
