So, I wake up this morning to hear my laptop making this really weird whining noise. I go over to the laptop cuz the noise is pissing me off so i can turn it off. Now that I am starting to come to my senses I realize, ", that whining noise sounds like the hard drive spinning in an unhealthy way, my hard drive better not be dead."
I turn the computer off and then go back to bed. Now I can't sleep though cuz I am worried that my hard drive is dead. I finally give in and try to turn the compter back on. I get the lovely Mac OS Hard drive with the "?" in the middle of it flashing on the screen.
SOOOO . My hard drive is likely dead on my laptop. There goes 60 some Gigs of music, all my photos, all my old school work (which I don't need) and all my apps for medical and dental schools.
I know, I should have backed it up. You woulda thought I would have learned after I lost one hard drive once. And I used to be a bit of a computer nerd back in the day so I should know alot better.
I'm just lazy and I don't wanna hear anything about that! :p
On the positive side, my parents said they'd get me a new laptop as my bday present (which is great, but was hoping to get something different, but oh well I can't complain). It'll be nice to get a new Apple Powerbook with the new Intel processors. I've had my powerbook for just over two years now. Its time for an upgrade anyway. But I hate how they don't have 12" powerbooks anymore. Now I have to get a 15" one.
I'm praying that the technicians can save whats on my old hard drive. |

Yeah thats the only thing with Apple, they really skimp out and use cheepass hardware in their computers. Probably because they want them to fail so you get new ones a year or two later.
Not like Dell or Gateway is too much better. Back in the day I used to build my own PC's so it was no big deal at all. But now using a desktop is just so arkane to me, only something I would do at work or at a computer lab.
Nothing better than sitting on the pot and surfing the internet on wirless internet with the laptop. :p
And Mac (despite some of the cheapo parts) makes the best laptops.

Thanks! I'm going to the Apple store tonight once I get done with work. I'm praying to God, Allah, Buddha, Krishna, and all the other gods out there that they can save my files. |

haha :p I used to play lots of computer games back in high school (hence me building my own PC's), but I pretty much stoped my senior year. Just completly lost interest for some reason.
If I get a new Mac I can install windows and play some PC games on there. I still have lots of old games sitting in my desk at home which I haven't played in years. I also never really got to play Half-Life 2 which i was totaly looking forward to right before I lost all interest in comptuter games. I was obsessed with the first one. Maybe I can install that on my new Mac...but I'm probably going to be too lazy for that and I don't want to spend the money :p |

But you know I feel your pain.
Does this mean you lost the naked max pic? :(
You can get a 13" Macbook. But it doesn't have the good graphics card. |

HELL YEAH!
I just got back from the Mac store and they were able to repair my hard-drive. Aparently some of the necessary files got corrupted and thats why it couldn't boot. But they fixed that and now I am home backing up all my data. Thank the gods.
Unfortunatly though, my poor little 12" powerbook which I love is now on its last days. I'm thinking about upgrading to the 2.0GHZ Macbook. I don't like how its 13" which i guess is just 1" bigger than 12" but still, 12" was the perfect size. I also don't like how its black, the gray looks so much cooler.
So I don't know, I guess I may just push on my laptop until it is fully dead and just be sure to back it up regularly, or maybe I could get a new one now. Or wait. I dunno.
Gehz...That sucks man. Your really lucky though that your friend was able to save it after it dropping to the ground. I would think most HD's would be completly lost after a fall.
Heffree..yeah you've gone through a couple of HD losses havent you? Also didn't you format Evan's computer "by accident" once? :p . |

| No I formatted my external by accident once tho. |
