Well I've had some interesting dreams just like the next person, but I'm gonna recall the time I was listening to the radio at work and heard a middle aged guy come on Coast to Coast AM. The subject was on recurring dreams and this guy had one that gave me the chills soon after I heard it. *The words aren't exact, but it's more or less the same thing*
"It all started when I was 11. My folks and I lived in a nice house out in the woods and we had this pretty big basement that my old man used to store a lot of different things in. Well this one night I had a dream that I was walking downstairs, and I noticed the basement door was open. So I stepped in and started exploring it. I don't know why I did it, I'm normally scared as Hell being down there by myself, but I went in anyway. Well it was soon apparent that I wasn't alone down there. I got this feeling something was watching me and before long, this huge black bear comes walking out of the shadows with glowing yellow eyes, and snarles at me. Immediately I take off to get the Hell out of there, the bear chasing me all the way back to the door. I could feel it bearing down on me just a couple of feet away before I run up the stairs and slam the door. I could hear the bear growling at me from the other side of the door before I wake up.
Several years go by. I'm about 23-24, going to College, came back to the same house to pay my folks a visit. It was a 3 day weekend and I just wanted to take it easy. Well that night I had the same dream again. This time I'm my current age, but it's the same dream: same basement door, same walk-in, everything. Again I see the bear walking out of the shadows, snarling at me, and again I take off, frantic. This time the bear gets a little more closer to me. I can smell its fur just a few feet away. I scramble up the stairs, slam the door shut, just in time, and again I hear it growling at me from the other side right before I wake up.
Well now, it's just 3 months ago. I'm 47 and I have that same damn dream again! Everything's the same, except I'm an old man now, going down that same damn basement, encountering that same damn bear. It chases after me again and I run for dear life. This time the bear is closest to me as it's ever been before. I mean I can actually feel its hot breath breathing on the back of my neck as I'm runnin'. I scramble up the steps, reach for the basement door, and right before I can close it this time, the bear's face pops out from the basement, stares at me, and says, "The next time you see me, I GET YOU!" When I woke up, I almost damn near pissed myself. Now when I go to sleep, I'm afraid of having that same dream again. Because I don't know what will happen if that bear gets me the next time."

I've found that dreams I tend to find real are dreams that I'm especially emotionally-connected to. If I have one about my immediate family, I'll wake up in the middle of the morning and think about it as though it actually happened and proceed to talk to them as though it did. Once they give me a weird look, I remember that it's a dream. If the dream is of anybody outside of my immediate family, I'll know it's a dream the second I wake up.
The only dreams I've ever actually "felt" are dreams that are related to romance, or certain individuals that I have feelings for. Whenever I hug that individual in a dream, I actually feel the hug and their body up against mine. Whenever I hold their hand I feel their fingers wrapped between mine, and I'll wake up with that hand being warmer than the other. It's weird, but it makes me smile. :)
Oh, and all of my dreams are in color. I don't think I've ever had one in black and white. Now I'm off to go have a dream or two.
Edit: I love the nightmares that leave me waking up in the morning going, ", I've just ed up big time. Life's ed, I don't know how I'm going to tell my parents about that. !" and then going, "Oh, wait... just a dream. Thank God." |

Most of mine tend to be a memory of whats happened to me in the past, sometimes good, sometimes bad and usually with some kind of weird twist too it like either a relative, friend, ex or someone I worked with at one point running around completely randomly.
Think the weirdest one was an early memory of me running around a plant nursery with my grandmother, about 6 or so and we where buying something and I found a puppy to play with. Said puppy was about 60kilo's of 11month old Newfoundland dog, she was god damn huge!
Well, its using me as a chewtoy, sitting on me (and if I'm a midget now, back then I was a garden gnome!), I'm screaming like I've lost a leg because its just not funny at this point being sat on by the fat dog and everyones come over to see what the hell has happened. And out of the crowd comes this dopey bint from New York I remember being distinctly unpleasent on account of her lack of intelligence, sales and management skills asking me all kinds of stupid crap about tinted moisturisers...
 stupid brain |

One dream I had was about an alien invasion of Earth. I say invasion because their intention was clearly to dominate us.
It was late at night. I was with a few other people on a low bridge with no guard rails, which crossed from Miami to Miami Beach. It was a clear night with good visiblity. The water was still and dark.
I don't know the details, but we were on some type of mission or patrol concerning the invasion. We had just started crossing over to the beach side when I noticed a faint pink glow under the water. It moved quickly in the same direction we were headed. I somehow knew that the glow was from a small group of aliens traveling below the surface.
We cautiously proceeded across. On the beach side the bridge terminated in a small covered structure with an arched opening, I guess you could call it a portico. It was brightly lit inside.
I entered the structure, which had hallways leading off to the sides. There was a pretty blond woman standing in the hall to my right. She smiled and calmly walked up to me. I slipped behind her, grabbed her head and quickly twisted it, and she collapsed on the floor. I had no doubt that I had just dispatched one of the aliens. I woke up when I knew she was dead.
War is ugly. |
