Subtle
Ok, so i just got hold of some good old tunes, and its always interesting to hear originals of famous remixes.

But damn, these tunes i noticed in particular as complete rubbish.
Maybe because their old i dunno. But made my ears bleed, could barely last a minute.

The Morrighans - Remember

Lost Witness - Happiness Happening

Both these tracks got their great remixes from Lange.

nope. The original is gorgeous & melodic, the remix is hard & bouncy, but neither is miles ahead of the other, both are just suited to different tasks.
Lunar Phase 7
I find in particular lost witness tracks to be bloody e production wise.

7 Colours was lush though, I don't get it.

What? No EDM remixes of OMD's Enola Gay, Ultravox's "Dancing with tears in my Eyes" (or any other tune by Ultravox by the way...), Alphaville's "Big In Japan", Visage's "Fade to Gray", New Order's "Blue Monday" (Heh!!!!) Yello's "Oh Yeah", The Cure's "A Forest", Front-242's "Religion" (these are more EBM though, but i remember a remix by prodigy...), Depeche Mode's "Behind the Wheel" (i remeber a remix in a dj hell compilation...was that playgroup or something?)and simple minds "theme from great cities" (considered by some to be the best instr. pop tune ever!)was the huge end-90s (or beginning of 00s?)house hit "this is the real life" or something like that by someone i can't remember right now. Nice stream of consciousness contribution.

Oh yeah and lets not forget "song to the siren" by This Mortal Coil in the nicey trance interpretation "did i dream" by lost witness(although this is not exactly synth-pop or italo but rather new-wave in the broader sense.)

This Mortal Coil's (& Elizabeth Fraser's) version from 1983 is probably the best known "non trancey" version but it isn't the original.. the real original is by Tim Buckley from 1968, which besides being with male vocals, is also of totally different style. Great track nevertheless.
