Im totally happy with Sonic's bookings these days...the only thing im really looking forward to it is a Back2Back session of 2 name DJs...
have this ever happened at Sonic (or old BOA) befor ...?!?? Is there even enough space on DJ booth for setting up of such an event ? that would be fkn awsome...
Seeing a B2B performance of S.O.S crew ,or Danny Howells vs. Lee Burridge , Zabiela vs. Fanciulli , David Duriez vs. Mazi or a good blend of 2 good minimal techno DJs at Sonic will be so :eyes: ...
(im sure Charles wont let them play anywhere else other than Guv/TIL thou) |

| as far as minimal, i like it at home or in a lounge setting but in a big club environment i like a certain level of energy that you don't get at home or in a lounge...not slagging the night..if sonic is going to have minimal nights and if they're a success that's great, to each their own...but for me, minimal is a 10pm sound, not a 3am sound...but that's me :D |

I agree that these can be great nights...case in point: Gerber and Duriez "back to back" in late 2006 at Sonic. A great show, IMO, and it was near the beginning of the Sonic renaissance that we are currently experiencing. |

Well, giving the Johnny White mix a listen - so far I like it, some great tracks - I dont see anything 'challenging' about it.
If this music is representative of what was played that night in general, if they have another night there - I'll be showing up. I've always enjoyed Kenny G. Had a chance to see Nitin the other week at footwork and really liked his style for the most part, and rather enjoying this mix.
That being said, if its 4am and your waiting for CZ to open, I could see how this could lack the driving hard beats to keep some people moving. |

To be fair...and so that everyone understands...we left at 6am and Johnny White had NOT come on yet....
We have heard him twice at Sonic and loved his sets...although, last week, when he opened for Creamer...it was harder, dirtier, and had a lot more layers, which I prefer and find it easier to dance to...
I think a lot of people had given up before he came on this week... |

Odd
Saturday, for the most part was lacking continuity. The tempo was being changed way too often. Don't get me wrong, I love minimal, yet Saturday was different. I'm not saying different is bad, I'm just saying the combination of sounds heard on Sat were odd.
Each song by itself was great but did not flow or continue into the next. It is as if the DJs had no clue what was played before and what would be played after the current track.
Simply not for me. Maybe I completely missed what they were trying to convey to us.
BTW I love what Sonic has been bringing the last couple weeks. Some of the greatest nights ever, keep it up. |
