Final Scratch, Serato, or Torq? (pg. 6)

as long as serato, torq and traktor let you use vinyl, there is no way the cdj will every fully replace turntables. in san francisco, there still aren't clubs that have cdj's. besides, now that cdj features are useless with dvs software, there is not need to switch over.

curious about this too, serato for me is the same as mixing with cd's (though i suppose one could argue that using cd's is technically cheating when compared to using TTs)

I dont think beatmatching with cds is cheating when you compare the visual waveform with serato. The only thing that i see that CDs have over vinyl besides track quantity per vinyl/cd is that vinyls have to be semi maintained when they are playing because of how mechanical everything is. Between the two (in terms of using no DVS), i dont think theres major differences in skill used to beatmatch.

Beatmatching doesn't even take any skill.

actually, the perfect bump I was looking for.

I'm considering getting some sort of DVS app for my set up. I have 2 CDJ 200's and a DJM 400 and the main purpose I want it for is just for organization of tracks and being able to play from the HD instead of lugging around a ton of cds.

My collection of CDs is getting a bit big and it's getting harder to find tracks within all of my other CDs.

So I am not looking for what is absolutely the best DVS out there with the most uses. For now I want to still do all of the DJing on my setup and use the PC as little as possible, only for picking the tracks.

For the most part this is going to be for my desktop since I rarely dj outside of my room, but would like to have something that is pretty stable on the go, as well.

Really can't go wrong with any of them for what you stated. Comes down to personal preference.

Hey guys

I'm currently using 2 x CDJ1000s and a Pioneer DJM600 but I'm starting uni overseas next month and dont want to have to lug all of my CD collection and cases around with me.

For this reason, I'm trying to decide between Serato and Traktor. I want to have my whole music collection on my laptop, but I want to be able to manipulate the music and mix in exactly the same way as I do now with my CDJs.

Is it a good decision to go digital in your opinions? How reliable are these programs in terms of keeping your mixes tight, latency etc...? Do they ever crash in the middle of a set?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts
Chris

Also, is Serato's SL3 worth the extra £115 compared to the SL1? Are there any major differences between the two?
