It is just another option when it comes to making sound. They all have their signature sounds and personally I find it easier to work with them.

Its about trying to experiment to create your sound like running your synths direct into a guitar stomp box and other bits before running into your pc.

Not to mention freeing up my CPU for lush fx plugins!!

had a Q and liked it alough it was slow to program, nova is ok but found the v-station could do more an sound better!

had alot of gear but now i only have my 8080 an its for keeps, love its sound and overall ease of use....

would love a nord rack 3!!!

All hardware except for software sampler and sequencer

About 80% hardware. Synths, drums, effects...

Only software I use these days (apart from Cubase/Wavelab) is Absynth, Battery, Kontakt & Reaktor, plus some "secret" weapons for effects.

I'm amazed at the amount of hardware and outboard that people have here.

Over at ML and KvR its really different - Alot more software producers.

whats the best secret weapon? I was thinking something like camelphat, dblueglitch, camelspace.........
Seppa
well if he present them as secret that s probably because he does not intend to share 'em with anyone .

You can make your own "secret weapon" by getting to know real well the plug ins you just mention they are indeed special.

Im all software, not through choice. Once i sort out the finances and get a diamond paid off i will get some hardware.

:haha:

Secret = stuff only I have. Custom made Reaktor ensembles. Custom coded VST's. Ways of working....

For you, the best secret weapon is your mind. Step outside the box, excercise some random creativity, around with signal paths, do random stuff, a secret weapon is not some single magical plugin...

Touche.

My flatmate who also produces, is always asking how i do some stuff, a particular conceptulisation... he thinks I have something he dosn't... but it's just about the way I utilise the stuff, in a way he would never think about... it's all about thinking outside the box, and being creative... intresting things happen.

Yes I'm using hardware:
Yamaha CS1X
Axiom 25
EMU 0404 USB

Synchronicity
I'm also surprised at the number of people who have hardware.

Now I have my Waldorf Pulse and Virus Classic I don't get GAS for synths any more. They just sit there not getting much attention though because of studying but eventually I'll have a job/routine/monitors and I'll be more productive. I hate using headphones personally because it feels claustrophobic.

the amount of people using hardware pleases me... since i'm mostly hardware myself. i'm still trying to push my self more and more into phasing in softsynths, since i purchased komplete 3/4, kore. but the only piece of software i use w/any regularity is the emulator x. praise the good lord for this one, saved me from having to re-arm my self w/an army of e4x's.

aside from the soundquality, and filters... the thing that really separates the emulator x, from other "soft samplers", is that the "X" is actually a sampler! i can plug any piece of hardware to my 1820m, and sample it. it's not just a sample playback/sample manipulator program. -like kontakt, or 99% of the software that are misleadingly labled "soft samplers". misleading to me because every real (hardware) sampler i've come across has inputs that you can use to record with. imagine nasty surprise when i got when i realized that i couldn't hook up any hardware to either intakt, kompakt, battery, or kontakt. what a wothless crock of .

for sequencing, i'm all about the mpc4000. i tried to use daws. i bought video's n' stuff... i can do it if i really have to, but i really hate using a daw for writing. i think i'd rather slash my wrists than use cubase to make music. sonar makes me want to throw myself out my 3rd story window onto the concrete driveway below. the daw experience was so tramatizing that raided every account i have to scrape together the cash i need to buy another mpc and completely upgrade it. now i'm a happy camper.

*useless sidenote... my failed "sampling" experience w/native instuments pissed me off so much, that i jacked all the .wav files from their "samplers" an imported them into the emulator x. emulator rulez!
