it seems like this one was released way too quickly after GU030

I haven't been impressed with the last 3 or 4 GU mix cds. once upon a time, they had some amazing stuff coming out. I'm sure they'll get it back together and we'll see some more amazing stuff in the future, but for now, I think I share the attitude of most in this thread - it's okay, nothing special.

also, I have noticed too that there really aren't THAT many GREAT mix cds coming out lately. I don't know why - the djs are as good as they've ever been. seeing any of my favorite djs live still rocks, but I can't remember a standout mix cd in the last few years. don't know, maybe the industry is changing - if so, hopefully for the better.

I've just listened to disc 1. I liked the track selection and flow of it up until the Booka Shade track. After that it is just dull and boring, except for Schulz's remix of Yoshimoto. I scanned through disc 2 and only liked the last 10-15 minutes of it. *yawn*

Releasing the tracklist way before the actual release date obviously shows that it was recorded way in advance, what's the point in recording something so far in advance that when it does come out it has no bearing on what is currently desired by compilation buyers.

They need to re-evaluate the way they go about the whole process, imo

yup, i agree.

I rarely listen to this genre, but I got to listen to this cd, and I enjoyed it (this is obviously being that I have heard only a few tracts before).

I gave Disc 1 a quick listen this morning and I have to say there's nothing spectacular about it. It doesn't have that GU sound, if you know what I mean. Only track that really stood up was Markus Schulz's remix of Yoshimoto - Do What U Do.

I'll give another listen along with Disc 2 and post my review here. Although I don't expect that to happen anytime soon since I'm hooked on Luke Fair's Balance 011!

*pretends this doesn't happen and waits for GU032*

I'd say the same in here... though i'd have to add that i think even GU30 was hurried with, cuz Sharam's "Dubai" was a great piece of work and i think that it should've had more time to be "on air" before releasing Nick Warren's "Paris" as GU30...

...and Ali's "Taipei" is more than a rush-job!!!
Though i like both Sharam and Dubfire more than many many many other things that had ever happened in music, and Deep DIsh being my first love and bringing me to progressive sounds and creating my taste in music... i'd have to say that Taipei dissapointed me as nothing before! :eyes: Wasnt hoping... and was expecting too much after Sharam's "Dubai"... and great "Toronto" and "Moscow" done before as a Deep Dish.. :(

I miss those days... i miss those masterpieces! :sadgreen:

The depeche mode track is pretty good.. I can go without everything else.

TranceCritic review is up.

I'll admit it's been a while since I gave Global Underground much heed, and if this edition was anything to go by, it doesn't appear I missed much.

I like this mix more than the previous few GUs. Definatly the deeper and more progressive side of Deep Dish. This mix is more progressive than many previous GUs as far as the tracks go. I did not like the more tribal tracks though, and certainly did not like the entire mix.
