1. Strewth is like an exclamation of surprise. "Strewth, watch out!" Very very few Australians under the age of 40 would actually use it anymore, and those that do are most likely degenerate wits.

How the it managed to turn into some kind of insult is completely beyond me. The 'flamin' is used in order to accentuate one's...gallah-ness. Again, nobody with any self respect actually talks like this. Most people would, instead, say 'you ing idiot.'

LMAO, I actually typed Gallah into Google because I wasn't sure of the spelling, and I saw that snippet come up :stongue:
Seriously though, I can't wait to see the confusion if/when someone tries to explain Bevans. It seems every state has a regional dialect of Bevan-ness as well :haha:

Bevens, the Qld equivalent of NSW- Bogans which are in turn ACT equivalent of Booners... I don't know what they call them in other states except that for the fact they're basically people you don't want anything to do with.
Peasants in any other language (ed- that's probably offensive to peasants as they actually work every now and then)
I've been working all weekend going through sales reports, occasionally I get bored and and irritated so I play in photoshop or end up here bored and irritating people instead. If I find something I like I hack it up into an icon :) |

Westies are people from the western suburbs of Sydney like Blacktown, Parramatta, Penrith etc, which where populated mostly by people in lower-working class or dole-bludger class. They're basically bogans, they're also more or less extinct as their habitats have been marginalised by rich folk fleeing the inner city and buying up the property and their culture being eaten away by the next generations 'Homies' (Homeboys/Homegirls) which replaced their music with american rap, R&B and their clothing from the flannelette shirts and jeans with name brand tracksuits.
Come to think of it, I don't really remember the archetypical westie or seen any running around in their ugg boots/thongs, black heavy metal tshirt, mullet haircuts and flanno.
Then again, I never really had anything to do much with anyone out in the western suburbs... that and I'm an imported, they don't like us much and there's only so many pom jokes I'll put up with. :D |
