Sweden gave us hard swedish techno (you know the "Schranz" or whatever it is called, the one that you listen to one dj-set, and the whole set sounds like one train-like track..) |
'Schranz', probably one of the most ty genre labels ever invented, is different from Swedish techno, though.
Swedish = Adam Beyer, Joel Mull, Cari Lekebusch, ...
Schranz = Rush, Marco Remus, Pet Duo, ...
On topic, I'll pick Sweden, just because of this legend:

yeah i was gonna say that as well. Schranz is not the same as Swedish techno.
This kind of comparison is not fair .Sweden have so much more producers in all type of styles. |

I remember an interview by Cari Lekebusch (it was four years ago in dj mag) describing his sound as "schranz" and i remember that he grouped the majority of this swedish hard-type of techno (the "swedish-techno" artists that you mention )as "schranz" as well. This is when i first heard of this genre-label and this is what i meant by schranz.
Of course maybe these two genres were somehow divided after a certain point, but these are the artists i meant, the ones that you call as "swedish techno". Lekebusch, Beyer, etc. etc. I consider it hideously stupid and nothing to do with the detroit machine-soul (or even the berlinesque dubby minimalism, or any other form of deep techno such as the sound of Funk D'Void and Soma) and the whole meaning of techno. Unfortunately this is the type of techno that most kids know nowadays. Its terrible, one of the most stupid types of "music" (if someone could call "music" this vomiting thing) ever IMO. |

Hmm.. your sources must be better than mine then.. I just consider the two to be two entirely different things. |
