I will defintely be there (considering i live right where it starts), this is very interesting and maybe a great opportunity for new york city to accept large outdoor dance music festivals.

Nyc really needs this. Dance is our culture and the powers that be are trying to take that freedom away from us. This is great I hope it goes well.

i doubt that. Unless you can disassociate dancing and drugs (which i don't think is possible because the two are like PB & J) the populace in this country will never be behind public EDM events. This country's position on drugs is far too conservative to allow a public event where drug use will be prevalent.

I don't think NYC will ever host something as big as Love Parade, Berlin. However, there are other festivals in the country where the vibe you're talking about is prevalent like Love Parade SF. I haven't been, but I've heard it's pretty successful. There's also WMC which isn't one public festival but EDM pretty much takes over during that week, and there is plenty of blatant drug use that the authorities don't crack down on. The city benefits a lot from the tourism dollars, so they're more likely to turn a blind eye. There's also Burning Man though I think that's been a target for authorities in more recent years.

SF is pretty much unlike any US city with that kind of stuff. To many people NYC needs to keep its conservative business center image. Drug use isn't even really tolerated in private spaces in this city, e.g., all the clubs shut down over the years. I can't see the city letting people get ed up dancing around the city. The Public things we've had in this city (PVD in the Park, Ultra in the Park, and Armin @ Brooklyn) aren't even public because they have limited access. Its a totally different story when there is full access with children running around through the crowd. The upper east and west end types will have no part of that in this city. I think it could actually hurt NYC EDM scene more than it helps. Normally what the upper class doesn't see doesn't hurt them. Putting it out on the streets will make it even worse. I just hope noone ODs in public.

It happens at Love Parade... as evidenced by the many condoms left on the ground, in trees... lol Then again everyone's a bit more open in Europe.
