Try Classical music :p
It's proven to boost the grades of children who listen to it while studying. Not too sure if it still works at an older age though.
I don't know if would work for all music, because of the comfort and relaxtion you get while listening to your preferred genre, or just those instrumental genres. I know Metal/Goth would do me no good at all even though it's tolerable to listen to at times.
But I'm sure EDM would also work, it's closely related to classical, yes? |

No. Because that would make him focus more on the music rather than on the studying. |

Well if he's got ADD maybe he'd better not listen to music at all. |

actually stuff with vocals is a pretty bad idea because your brain will start tuning into the vocals instead of the study.
When I studied I had to study in silence, I couldn't listen to music, it just didn't work for me. Failing that, classical is probably the way to go.
Otherwise, whatever music you like.
But mainly, if you need music you probably aren't concentrating on your study. |

i agree with this statement. i've never seen any point in listening to music while studying. it'll just distract you and so your studying will take longer and you won't get the stuff as well as you would if you hadn't been distracted. |

So true. If you have to listen to music to get something done, that would be cleaning your flat etc.. |
