As I've said before I decided to purchase Nexus. But for those of you who can't afford it I'm gonna teach you a lesson how to make nexus'ish sounds :D But before we even gonna start the lesson you are obliged to download [[ LINK REMOVED ]]
and listen to it. Sounds familiar no? You will not believe me until you download the file below, but this is 4 vanguard synced together playing the same notes!
Now here is the [[ LINK REMOVED ]]
that you can look at:
Now here we go!
1. The thing to do first is obviously to add 4 vanguard and select the patches you want to use. Patches to use:
1 gated choirish
2 arpeggio each with different time settings. One transish
1 pad
2. Now add a layer channel. Open it up, deselect the layer and select the 4 vanguard channels. Easiest to do this is just to left click on the lamp beside one vanguard and then right click the rest of the lamps.
3. Click "Set children" in the layer window. Now for the tricky part. All notes has to be entered in the layer channel. You can split the keyboard but that is overkill for now.
4. Return to the vanguards. Now in the property window make sure that they are playing different octaves. Do this by right clicking on the different C keys. This brings the sound out wider.
5. Pan and volume each vanguard to broaden the sound further.
6. Put in some notes, preferably long chords, in the piano roll of the layer channel. Open the song editor and insert the pattern you created.
7. Allmost done. Next stuff to do is this:
8. Now for the transish vanguard open up the plugin window and tweak the cutoff knob. Next you click in the top left corner on the system menu and select the submenu "Last tweaked". Select the item "Create automation. All vanguard will vanish for the momentt but don't worry, the group Automation has opened up when you created the automation. Take note that in FL 7 the automation is automatically set to the song length, so if you want to limit the automation to a specific length then select that range in the song editor before you create the automation.
9. You're done! Press play and enjoy your faked Nexus! |

What you have here is not a phat sound, it's four weak sounds playing at the same time.
Stick to making a really good 2 layer then maybe 3.
