My list of reasons for going to DEMF this year :)
Also, I'm with Garth and could give -all about Mills - though I guess we'll be gone by the time he hits the decks anyways, so it's not like I'd have the opportunity to see him anyway. |

Rob, i hope its leaving early to go to the after hours Rave. I changed my flight to coming back to miami Tuesday, because Mondays rave cannot be missed.
To comment on what was said earlier about Mills. I did hear about the disaster closing set one year. I started attending DEMF in 2004 (when the After-party was Richie Vs luciano @ oslo). I have heard that Mills, in the states really plays like he doesnt give a , but then i heard about his Sonar2006 set blew everyone away. My collective has booked Stacey pullen, Derrick may, and Juan Atkins. I have yet to see a proper Mills set, i hope he brings it. |

Sadly, no. I can never stay Monday, that's our day to head home. |

Mills killed at Avalon at the One Year Compression party last November (Richie opened for him). I think he is an old schooler mixer who just goes for it. Either you are into that style - or not. BUT, I can't comment on his set at DEMF as it coulda been as you say. Don't know.
This year looks like it is shaping up to be a VERY good year though.

Techno giants sign up to do Movement
Adam Graham / Detroit News Pop Music Writer
T his year's Movement festival, the Memorial Day Weekend electronic music showcase in downtown Detroit's Hart Plaza, will be highlighted by performances from some of the city's most well-renowned -- and ultra-reclusive -- techno luminaries.
Moodymann, aka Kenny Dixon Jr., will perform with a full band and headline the festival's first night, May 26. Techno godfather Juan Atkins will headline the fest's second night with his Model 500 project, and Jeff Mills -- known as "The Wizard" in Detroit techno lore -- will close the festival, which is now in its eighth year.
Those artists are among the more than 40 acts Movement producers Paxahau announced Tuesday afternoon via a post on the festival's Web site, demf.com. More artists will be announced before the festival, May 26-28.
Also performing will be Richie Hawtin, Stacey Pullen, Anthony "Shake" Shakir and many more.
Ticket information has not been announced, although event promoters told The News earlier this month ticket prices would be similar to last year's $15/day, $40/weekend price point.
The festival, which began in 2000 under the "Detroit Electronic Music Festival" banner, drew an attendance figure of roughly 45,000 in 2006.
This marks the earliest the festival lineup has been announced in quite some time. For the past several years, the performers have been announced only weeks -- sometimes days -- before the festival, due to turmoil within the festival's management.
After the fest changed hands several years in a row, Ferndale-based electronic music event promoters Paxahau assumed control of the festival in 2006 and were lauded for putting on a smooth, drama-free event.

Tickets for Movement 07 now available:
Tickets are now available online for Movement 07: Detroit’s Electronic Music Festival.
Early bird specials are $20 per day and $40 for a weekend pass for a limited time.
Festival management is extremely pleased to be able to provide not only this years’ amazing line-up, but also a noticeably improved production for an event price that is 2 to 3 times lower than other festivals in this country.
Our history as a company is based in and comes from the underground party scene of the early 90’s in Detroit - because of this we have taken the time to address the important things we wanted to change for this year’s event.
All sound systems will be BIG, CLEAR & LOUD.
Please log into http://www.wantickets.com/demf/events.asp to purchase your tickets today!
We look forward to seeing all of you at the end of May… |
