iCompUSA is shutting it's doors all over the SoCal region and now i'm soon to be out of the job.
It was glorious. 8 hours a day at $9 an hour doing absolutely nothing but:

occassionaly ring someone up
-argue with someone about the price
-explain what a rebate is
-explain what an instant savings is
-not laugh at someone's joke
-not acknowledge someone talking to me/asking me a question
-imprint their credit cards and not caring wether they want to argue about credit card fraud. ngga i don't give a
-ring them up wrong intentionally and then send them to the long ass line in customer service for a return.
-fake a rebate

help a customer find something:
-if someone asks for help, reassure them that you are "only a cashier"
-if i know the answer. who cares. i have ADD and i talk funny, say "sorry, i'm only a cashier"
-tell them where it is
-refuse to walk them there
-if they come back saying they can't find it, say "ummm, ok"
-then they say "can you walk me there" and then i say "no, but someone else can" and then they say "like who?" and then i say "like everyone else"

converse with customers:
-laugh at world of warcraft playeres
-laugh about world of warcraft players
-tell people how gay windows is and ask if they drive a toyota corolla
-tell people starbucks is pretty gay
-ignore a customer. if they get offended, just "hehe, just joking. what did you say?"

nothing
-rap
-read magazine
-watch youtube
-watch a dvd on portable dvd player
-flip pens over the cd racks
-flip pens over customer service at the front door
-break pens in 2 and wipe the ink on the card/swipe pen.
-change brightness settings on card/swipe machine to super high
-throw security strips on the floor, glue side-up
-everytime we are open to midnight, use RC cars in the store around 11 pm when it is dead
-execute the 1-inch punch

Dude, thats retail...about a million other places like that just maybe not with computers.

Plus are you really upset for losing a $9 an hour job? Even if you did nothing, theres probably a lot of other places you could make more if you actually did some work there.

Finally, probably one of the main reasons they closed is people like you working there not doing most of the time and pissing off customers, I sure as hell wouldn't shop there:rolleyes:

and trancedj, the only reason i work there is because it's hella easy and it pays the bills for school.

i just turned down a job for 30k a year at lending tree for one of two positions.
that plane is growing, and i suggest a look into them.
thats entry level ... assuming u have a high school diploma.
i turned it down because i stunk up the interview room with my farts.

that. 30k isnt enough to put food on the table...i would gladly refuse that job or just say to them 'if you want things done right, you have my number' shake hand, smile and walk away. Then when they call you you tell them what you want to get paid. If they dont want to pay you that just say thanks and keep on looking. Its not that ing hard to find a job.

- rediculous prices... not to mention mentality "business customer" = "rip them off, they don't care, it's a write-off anyway!". Um.. wrong!

- generic crap branded as "CompUSA" that suxorz and has worst warranty

- impossible to decipher instructions for rebate

- Retarded 14 day return policy. Heck, even my local Korean PC parts dealer gives me better return policy.

- Idiotic restocking fee on just about anything

Shall I even mention the good-ole overpriced Netware/Windows classes taught by idiots who didn't know difference between mouse and keyboard?

...or those wonderful in-store assembled machines that were occupying repair racks of CompUSA floor to ceiling?

How about the notion that customers are dumb? I am sure this mentality also helped: thinking that a customer that actually comes in to buy a MOTHERBOARD would have NO IDEA that this motherboard can be bought for 1/2 price online... :rolleyes:

..and of course, customer service as described by you was a sweet cherry on top of already delicious cake.

Heh. Good riddance! Hope Best Buy is next! :rolleyes: :mad:
