Ever since me & Mart did the Glaciation album, I've felt very hollow musically - I didn't even want to think about music after we'd finished that one. I've been trying to get back into producing but I've not really been able to be make anything worthwile... and it hasn't really helped that I don't really even know what I want to do.
Anyway...
Here's something I've been working on for quite a while now. It was first supposed to be the next Glaciation/Al Azar thing but in the end I ended up producing it on my own (with some help from Mart as usual). It took a ridiculously long amount of time to do and I actually thought it was going to be one of those lost projects that's never going to see the light of day, until I finally managed to finish it today.
It's a dark proggy track and nothing much really happens in it but that's exactly how I wanted it to be :)
Anyhoo - here you go:
OrgaNik - A Path Less Travelled (7:26, 192kbps, 10.2MB)

Alright. Lets have a listen.
Cool vocals in the beginning.
Percussions are very nice.
Not overly impressed with the pads, but the percs make up for it.
I like that repetetive sound thats added.
The vocals are cool, but personally i prefer more darker male vocal stuff, but doesnt matter since they arent that prominent to the track.
Cool track overall, I like the repetiveness.. percs could have needed a crashy ride or something.
The track stops and introduces the beat and fades out, could have wished for a longer break, and that you introduce something subtle in the end while kicking it back again.
Thanks what i think anyways. |

Crashy ride? Hm, I don't think so...
The vocals come from a movie called Identity (which I highly recommend everyone to see). |

hmmm...let's see
I like the whispers in the beginning. Overall from the beginning the track has a nice drive I like the sounds you got going in the intro...everything sounds clean...and well balanced...great job on that :)
that resonating sound is pretty good too...you have said that there doesnt happen too much, I think it's quite enough for the genre.
In the "breakdown" part you repeat those whispers again and it builds the mood really nicely...I love the atmospehre in the track:) great job on that...
if you get the chance check my "Let it go" track, I'd love to know what you'll think of it :) |

I like it... it's got a slower tempo and grooves instead of drives.
I think the resonance synth alongside that bassline is just what the doctor ordered. It gives it a nice edge, and the resonance doesn't take away all the thunder.
The washy, whirly pads I like. They are smooth and light, and competitly mixed.
I'm not so sure I like the vocal... I was expecting something dark and brooding like one of Cybernetica's track, but the track turned out to be more funky and enjoyable in a different regard. I personally thought the vocals didn't do the mood justice to be honest.
It's a tad like house.
Personally, there wasn't too many new elements after the break, which kind of rubbed me the wrong way, but I did recognize the arrangement of the track. The arrangement doesn't sound novice at all.. Breaking up the monotony is one things -- it'd work fine in a club, but Maybe there is a few things you could add after the break.
Good work overall. |

| Yeah, I think the swinging percs adds a house-ish feel to the track. Thanks for the feedback anyway. |

listening...(on crappy work headphones)
kick n bass sit well with each other.
snare is a bit on the thin side...at least for me...i like my snares/clap schnnappy.
there is groove here...always important. especially after the breakdown when the kick n bass come back in...sounds good.
well...you're right, not much goes on, so there isn't much excitment. but the track is still good, well produced, and the sounds are good too. my fav is the 303ish type thing.
actually, my favorite aspect of your track was tthe kick and bass.
you could definetly work this into a dancefloor track. |

I don't think I really want to do that. I just don't feel like being part of the club thing anymore.
Though if someone else wants to do it I won't say no... |

I like the vocals in the beginning... adds a nice, eerie touch.
The sweeping noises are a cool touch as well.
The second, acid-like bassline that comes in is cool sounding, but I'm not sure I like the rhythm. I almost would like to see some variation... but then again, that may have been too cliche.
Pads are nothing special, but effective.
Breakdown is nice... I love the subtle percussive noises and the whispering. The percussion in this track is excellent, as always.
Basslines/acid-type sounds after ~4:30 are very cool! This track really shines in its second half, I think. Like you said, there isn't a whole lot going on, but there wasn't meant to be. There's something nice about the repetitiveness of this track. The tempo is perfect, IMO.
Great job. |

The vocals in the beginning sounds really gothic.
I like the acid.
The pads work.
The break is nice but maybe it comes too early.
You need one more little melody after the break and thats it.
7/10
