SP-7 VA Softsynth - Beta

Hey, I thought I'd share this synth I have been developing in Synthmaker. It's a beta version still, there will be a VST version in the future but for now it's just a standalone synth.
It's meant to emulate the JP-8000/8080 supersaw (obviously) and I think it does so fairly well. It's quite a CPU hog, so I recommend atleast a P4 2.0 GHz or AMD equivalent.
Features:
- Two Stereo Spread Oscillators with Saw, Pulse, Supersaw, Sine and Noise waveforms.
- 12 note polyphony.
- Frequency Modulation.
- Two separate Amp Envelopes.
- Sub Oscillator with Pulse and Triangle waveforms.
- Dual Stereo Filter with separate frequency cutoff.
- Filter Saturation.
- Built in effects: Stereo Delay, Distortion, Chorus, Reverb and High Shelf EQ.
- Unison Mode.
- Routable modulation with two LFOs and an AD-Envelope.
Updated with a new version!

Changes in this version:
-----------------------
- Polyphony has been expanded to 12 voices.
- A Unison mode has been added.
Polyphony is lowered to 6 voices when it's on. Unison will not affect OSC2 if set to Supersaw due to engine limitations.
- The modulation part is in the process of being reworked.
Currently only pitch modulation works.
- A Phase knob has been added to OSC2.
This allows one to offset the phase of all OSC2 waveforms.
- The overall volume of the synth engine has been halved,
previously the master volume had to be at 50% or less to avoid clipping.
- OSC Envelopes have been fixed as to not click on low attack or release settings.
- The Filter Saturation has been corrected and is now working properly.
- The Chorus effect has been improved.
- The Distortion effect has been improved.
- The Reverb effect should no longer attenuate the signal as much.
If you find any bugs please let me know. |

| Its a nice synth, some nice sounds, however it misses its goal. The supersaws sound not like the real JP, not even close. |

Not even close? Wow, that's harsh. :(
I agree that it's not a spot on emulation, but that would be near impossible.
I've made this sample, I think it sounds quite like a JP, to say it's not even close is in my opinion just plain wrong.

Maybe I'm just delusional and it indeed does sound like crap. |

Here's a sendspace mirror link.

I'm working on a Unison mode and flexible modulation routing for the next version.
So far it sounds really phat. :) |

very nice of you :) the mirror I mean
will get back to you once I get the chance to test it properly :) thanks. :) |

Not sure how well you recreated the original, but I love the sound. Great job.
And looks good too ;)
But the chorus is weird. sound kinda out of phase weird (yes, it's a technical term :stongue: )
Reverb is bugged. Volume boost while moving the reverb mix knob.
Other than that, love it. Can't wait for the VST version. |

| any idea when we can expect a vst version? |

Did the jp8080 have a sub oscillator?
Very cool sample Eldritch, I'm quite psyched |

I don't know, soon I hope. I just need to get all features set in stone first.

Hehe, no. It's just the supersaws that are from the JP. :D
The Virus synths have sub oscs though.
/EDIT
I just wanted to let you know that the next version is coming along nicely.
Fixes for the Chorus, Distortion and Reverb effects are done already.
The modulation rework is not however. It will take the most time.
Unison mode still needs to be tweaked a bit also.
/EDIT2
Whoops! Seems like the Filter Saturation was broken in this release.
I've fixed it for the next version. |

| Not sure completely, but it sounded like there was a little bit of crackling, or maybe clicking in the oscillator. |
