No disrespect, but this is Tranceaddict.com. I think it would get really confusing with alot of other genres. I personally would not do it if it were house. I do not own any house music, and I would not waste my time searching and purchasing it, let alone mixing it. This is j/m/o and I don't mean any disrespect to anyone else. |
No offence to you, but the usage of this is tranceaddict so it should be about trance is lame.
The site is about every genre EDM. (Heck, even Swamper said so)
Explore new genres. Have fun with other genres, not just what you like.
(Maybe you'll even like new genre)
I'm so tempted to suggest the first genre to be something very obscure, like happy hardcore or acid house or something, just to get away from mainstream genres and make it more interesting. |

Bollocks mate, seriously, if you think it isnt possible to make a coherent 10 track mix with tracks from 3 different genres then you need to get out more.
In fact, maybe it would be interesting to take 10 tracks from 10 different genres and see how many different and original ways people can come up with of putting them together. |

A: people on here listen to tons of other genres.
B: There are also people who won't do it if it's trance, don't own any trance music, and would not waste their time searching for and purchasing it, let alone mixing it.
Keep the votes coming. Whichever one gets the most interest will be the first one--not the only (if all goes well). So, if this one's house, the next one might be trance. If this one's trance, the next one might be techno, etc. |

I understand your point. I am into a few different genres, but the main genre I play is trance. Maybe having 3 different genres and letting the people decide on what genre they want to play is not a bad idea. Like he said, KEEP THE VOTES COMING.
Whos here in Miami?? I'm down here for the WMC. Maybe we could meet up and have a dance off??? J/K Much love to all styles of music!!!! |

I'm going to drive this point one more time :p
I see that this contest is about showing off your skills as a DJ, not what tracks you'd like to hear. I'm taking as a challenge that I may not be playing a genre that I don't like (or have no clue in) but to expand my skills as a DJ and just have fun with it.
If you don't like what got picked, well, maybe next contest might be a genre that you'd like.

also, 10 is only a benchmark... maybe we'll vote for 20 allowable tracks.... but that doesnt mean that you have to use all 20, as most likely, mixes will be limited to around the 30 minute mark.
so... even a vinyl user wont have to buy all the tracks (if they wanna do this), just the ones they'd wanna play.
and my vote still stands for trance or techno... |

I also think this should be more about having fun.. experimenting with genres etc.. I usually.. always.. play more on the techy house side. But i have no problem participating if it would be trance or hardcorepsyambientjunglebreaks. In the process of making the track selection it would be good to select tracks that some peeps might already have and/or would not be too hard to find. If there are guys who wont participate just because it isn't trance or house, then maybe they should sit it out!
I cast my vote to
One about House
One about Trance
One about Techno
One about them all
It's all about the music
One love :) |

Ace post. While I am pushing for House and Techno, I don't expect the tracks that are chosen in those categories to be anything I would usually spin. The whole point is to try something new, to push yourself and to learn new things here. That's what I like about this competition. :) |

Well guys and girls a lot of us have talked about trance, or house, why dont we start naming some songs that may be well known (to emphasize how each can interpret familiar tunes into our own mixes uniquely).
Here are a few tracks I imagine a fair amount of you are familiar with in trance:
1. ronski speed - the space we are
2. andy moor - yearzero
3. saltwater - the legacy
4. gabriel and dresden - dangerous power
5. luminary - dark eyes
6. bryan kearney - exactly
7. Jose amnesia - louder
8. Sean Tyas - Lift
9. Cosmic gate - analogue feel
10. En mass - CQ |
god I'd have to take double my xanax prescription to stomach that crap.
I vote for a trance and then an everything else column simply because if I post my mix in the house forum people will say it is too techno, but if I post my mix in the techno forum people will say it isn't techno.
I'd much rather be a judge. |
