So there was a "confession" but Iran won't let anyone else talk to them? And the security council just came back with sanctions? Sounds circumspect ... |

The pities thing is that even Russia is playing some games with the US on Iran. Later this month they stopped building a nuclear power station overthere and refused to supply nuclear fuel saying that Iran hasn't paid for earlier job.
That's disgusting too. |

| Iran better start enriching faster. Israel is probably going to take advantage of the arms blockade. |

Do they really think Iran is going to stop enriching uranium with these sanctions?if anything it will give them more reasons to continue buliding whatever they are building. |

Blair: Sailors were not in Iranian waters
Associated Press
Sunday, March 25, 2007
BERLIN -- British Prime Minister Tony Blair says the 15 British sailors and Royal Marines captured by Iran were not in Iranian waters.
Blair says he wants to resolve the situation "in as easy and diplomatic a way as possible,"
But he warns the Iranian government Britain views the sailors' fate as a "serious situation" and a "fundamental" issue.
Blair's comments came at a news conference in Berlin at celebrations for the 50th birthday of the European Union.
They followed British and European Union demands for Iran to release the 15 naval personnel seized at gunpoint in disputed waters between Iran and Iraq on Friday.
Britain and the United States have said the sailors had just completed a search of a civilian vessel in the Iraqi part of the Shatt al Arab waterway when they were intercepted by the Iranian navy.
Iran, however, says they illegally entered Iranian waters.

^^ fair enough, but nobody has commented on what map either side is using as the basis of their respective claims. I'm not taking sides here, but given the long-standing dispute, I think there's more to is than a simple line on a map.
I'm thinking that a prisoner swap with the Iranians that were snatched a few months ago will happen sooner rather than later. |

I'm guessing that even if the British had overstepped their boundaries, which their government is denying, it's probably not nearly as far overstepped as the Iranian incident with the Saudis when they were trying to exhibit their ability to hit major oil producing centers in Jubail earlier this month. Maybe the US ally, the Saudis, should have captured those sailors, particularly since they were so far over their boundaries in comparison to this incident?

It's not surprising, it's just Iran trying to flex the little muscles that they have in an attempt to piss of the rest of the world. You'd have thought that they'd have been a little more cautious the day before they're looking at sanctions regarding their nuclear program. This was a good excuse for anyone on the fence to impose the sanctions. |
