i think my nana grew up in flushing. but this was like in the 30's. no wait, is flushing near the bronx?

i dunno, but pretty much my mom's entire family is from NYC, but over the years they've migrated either more north (scarsdale and scotia, albany, etc...) or completely south down here to florida.

that's on francis lewis blvd on the 'outskirts' of flushing which happens to be on the border of Bayside (francis lewis blvd line)

btw i live about 5 blocks from oasis (my parents crib) it's where i grew up and i hung out at that church with my greek friends...was the only asian kid there...

i get down with all races

this is true lol

i lived at oasis in like '95 and '96 (i migrated there after getting bored of the drama in the astoria scene). played pool at that place on francis lewis and at bbc's on bell blvd (which is something different now).

the most ghetto pool hall was a place called dj pockets in flushing right off the l.i.e. what a hole that was... (it's next door to a really good afghan place tho - just ate there this weekend).

^^LOL QUEENS HEADS!

dj pockets was ok - i played there for the after school special (3hrs for $10) lol there was a really really ghetto one in flushing near 35th ave and the onramp where northern blvd goes towards corona...i think it was called mamouth. lol that place was horrible, we use to fight there so much it wasn't funny.

the afghan spot next to dj pockets was called mustangs cafe - $3.25 for a burger with fries and a small drink.

bbc on bell blvd is called slates now, yuppity like the slates in the city, owned by the same owner who ran the one that is on francis lewis blvd (still think it's there) next to powerhouse gym.

i'm not even from queens lol.

mustangs was bought out by the afghan place ali baba's so it's all one big joint now.

dj pockets was (is) ghetto, as was this indian pool hall on union turnpike in glen oaks (that's closed down now).

the only pool hall brawl i was ever in was at this hole on avenue u in brooklyn.
