Going back to the comment about label nights, it would be nice to see something like that go down in NYC. I mean, i'd kill for a Discover Night w/ John Askew, John OCallaghan + Sean Tyas....

The most popular would obviously be Armada , Vandit or Blackhole, but there are some other labels that could do well, like Discover, Euphonic imo.

Um well actually your getting discover in pieces over the next 3 months, turnout is critical.

but let me ask you this; if the above captioned nights go well, would you ever attempt to bring some of the Euphonic label DJs over? Just curious.

Same question to Strobelife NYC ;)

That's a hell yes with a side order of cole slaw!

Thrillseekers was really great when Drew and I went to see him throw down in San Diego. I would have totally gone to the One14 show but there was a schedule conflict. But then again, they seem to frequent more venues in the West Coast, where there is a larger following (Ronski, Rank 1, Agnelli and Nelson, to name a few).

Still, Above and Beyond was in a similar situation for many years...and I feel they've *crossed* over very well.

Its def time that we started seeing different producers come to NYC.

to Strobelifenyc & Massive NYC for bringing over Dogzilla and Talla2XLC and hopefully many more in the future. And I'm loving it that Sean Tyas is a 'resident' in our scene, YAY! :tongue2 and of course props goes out to anyone who made simliar efforts in the past (ie. One14 etc.)

Like I said. The people who come to the big events whenever Armin/Ferry/etc. (excluding you guys) are not "really" Trance fans. If you knew someone like Ronski Speed was coming, you'd jump around with excitement. If it aint Armin and co. It will be a small turnout for alot of these DJs. ing pissed to see this.

I remember going to see Thrillseekers @ One14. Pathetic turnout. I felt bad for Steve.

You hit the nail on the head, brotha. Unfortunately, even a post with 30 pages of replies on TA doesn't represent any of the 4000 people that probably go to see Armin or PVD at whatever respective mega-venues they play at. There's only so much you can do to promote certain artists in this unforgiving nightlife city, and many artists are not willing to compromise their booking fee and conditions to understand this. It's a wierd scene, the trance scene of New York. We get the biggest and the best DJs, and the big promoters are MORE than happy to spend the big bucks to have them, but any DJs less than the biggest/best are a huge risk because the average "trance lover" in this city is conditioned to expect the biggest and best and nothing else. In other parts of the US, like the midwest, etc., who get medium DJs that many of YOU want to see badly, that is because the promoters don't have the resources to bring Armin or PVD 3 times a year, so they bring the medium guys and sure enough, the crowds come out and show love; it's a very opposite and inverted scene than ours is.

Would I like to chang this? Yeah, of course.... The Martin Roth party gave me a lot of hope, but to be honest, that was one huge promotional effort and 75% of the people there did not know who Martin was. Did they enjoy the music and have a good time? Yeah, and I heard so many good reviews about Martin Roth from these people. And it's that eye-opening effect that I want to have on people, much like Avalon did with some of the obscure and interesting DJ bookings they did over the first few years it was around. All I can say is Michael and I are doing everything we can to make April 13th a night many you will hopefully never forget, as one of the most unique EDM nights and lineups to happen in a while. Show the love!!
