It's a wierd scene, the trance scene of New York. We get the biggest and the best DJs, and the big promoters are MORE than happy to spend the big bucks to have them, but any DJs less than the biggest/best are a huge risk because the average "trance lover" in this city is conditioned to expect the biggest and best and nothing else. In other parts of the US, like the midwest, etc., who get medium DJs that many of YOU want to see badly, that is because the promoters don't have the resources to bring Armin or PVD 3 times a year, so they bring the medium guys and sure enough, the crowds come out and show love; it's a very opposite and inverted scene than ours is.
Would I like to chang this? Yeah, of course.... The Martin Roth party gave me a lot of hope, but to be honest, that was one huge promotional effort and 75% of the people there did not know who Martin was. Did they enjoy the music and have a good time? Yeah, and I heard so many good reviews about Martin Roth from these people. And it's that eye-opening effect that I want to have on people, much like Avalon did with some of the obscure and interesting DJ bookings they did over the first few years it was around. All I can say is Michael and I are doing everything we can to make April 13th a night many you will hopefully never forget, as one of the most unique EDM nights and lineups to happen in a while. Show the love!! |
everything you just said is so on point. I have people from college and people from Toronto coming for your party, so hopefully that will help a TAD......even if it is just a few extras!! ;) :) |

When K&A was doing the North American tour back in Feb., I was trying desperately to setup a surprise NYC gig.. but some partners backed out and I didn't have the funds to secure same..
With you guys throwing major NY EDM parties in mind.. and my contact with Euphonic Labels's manager (Marco), maybe a Euphonic Night in NYC can come true .. . how does this sounds to you? |

When I introduced myself to them, they were shocked I was from new york and were really excited about that fact(I think Wai had the same experience?)
I didn't expect that response but they for some reason like "OMG that is so AWESOME" or something to that effect. lol I guess they like nyc? :conf: nice people ;) |

PS: I was just thinking......that if it wasn't to much to ask..........a DJ that I am POSITIVE will bring out a crowd and NEEDS to be in NYC is Menno de Jong.
I am sure many people would agree based on the many convos I have had about him. |

Matt(mcb+bunch of numbers) is good friends with Preach, ask him to coordinate with Preach for a party at love...

def doable! but again, none of these are slam dunks no matter how good the dj is if there is no market for the sound. regretably such is the case for NYC, trance is dead here. not to say it cant be revived but it requires alot of effort, from promoters and party goers, you guys really need to bring as many friends as possible to these events. |
