| yea for sure... you know how when you are at the olive garden or something and you don't want to keep filling up on bread sticks? mstrkrft's set was kind of like that. although pleasing, it was just too much of the same thing. after a while, my friend and i just decided to take a break for a while on the couches on the 3rd floor and by the time we felt ready to venture back down, digweed had saved the day. |

Now I have only seen digweed 10 or so times where as ive seen sasha 20+ times. For the most part digweed has been really consistent where sasha has not. Last time I saw digweed he was really great, but didnt blow me away. Last night he totaly blew me away, he was totaly rocking 3 cdj's he seem to have made some sort of loop cd with basslines, effects, breakdowns etc. It allowed him to give his entire set some sort of conformity through out his set. The breakdown pad/woosh/drum thing he used through out the night was sick sick sick.
Pyro, I would definitely not consider myself musically uneducated. While I may not be a old twilo head or even a new yorker for that matter. I was very much in the rave scene in the mid to late 90's. I was at some of sasha and digweeds first parties in FL. Not to mention djing and collecting records from 97 onwards.
Also lastly on Digweed's set last night, if you were expecting that fluffy progressive electro from Digweed last night you definitely would be disappointed, as he played dark and hard. Much like the sound of 2000-2001 except maybe even a bit less melody. He controlled the dance floor, especially since he was using the 3 cdj's. Also the set I heard last night was nothing like his sets that i have been downloading for the past few months, if you were expecting him to play like that, again you would be disappointed.
Also I hate the people at pacha the bartender ripped me off for 2 drinks. Them making you wait in line for no reason other than to create a big line is annoying, they had no need for that especially at digweed. And the ing bathroom attendants hording all the paper towels and soap. I mean wtf they expect me to pay them to let me wash my hands that. And the security that makes you take off your shoes and feels you up. I miss Arc and centro fly.
Shout outs to the oldschool TA's i saw. |
ing yes I was watching him rock those 3 cdj's all night. You could see the level lights for each line lit up on the A&H mixer almost the while time (I love how they go green, blue, then red at the top rather than just green and red), and it was often remarkable because it always sounded like 1 track instead of 3.
It was kind of beautiful. |

Digweed was amazing last night. The gospel according to John. If you had heard his recent Fabric promo and transitions cds, you would have been primed well for last night. I only wish I had the energy to stay the night. I left at 6:30 my legs and brain were mush. This was the best set of the year for me. Pounding dark hooky house.
at 5:30, who were the dj's playing down in the basement? It was this little dude with short hair - looks kind of like groundhogboy but less angry. He was pumping some serious tunes!!!
The bartenders suck at Pacha. The drinks are ridiculously expensive!!! $12 for a vodka tonic??? One complaint for an otherwise stellar evening :D |

Yea, seems like he IS evolving to an extent - doing those things keeps things fresh and interesting.. he had some great effects and I thought the whole night, and especially up to 5 or 5:30, had great, insane flow.
Also, I thought the vibe last night was on the good side (for Pacha, that is...) I think it's because we spent most of our time in the middle of the crowd, where everyone was going crazy. fr0st & I stood almost the whole night in a choice spot where everyone around us was having a ton of fun... place was packed till 5 - I feel like rarely do DJs do that - everyone was lovin it. Even Howells got empty by 5am last time I saw him, although he's still my top... last night's set had incredible flow.
My first time seeing him and I would without a doubt go back next time.. |

I disagree - they were pretty kickass IMO. Definitely lacked the progressive flow of Digweed's set (just banger after banger, so it would have gotten tiring had they played more than 1.5 hrs) but a kick ass time in their own right. They did a great job of opening, too, simply because the transition to Digweed wasn't abrupt and disjointed as I feared it would be, but this is also Digweed's doing. |

don't get me wrong... i didn't think they sucked or anything. i also enjoyed many of their tracks. i just don't feel their set ever really evolved from one thing to the next at any point. but i def agree with what you said about being a good opening... cause if nothing else it fired me up for digweed |

No...just Digweed on the line up no Sasha, but he comes out to chill and get drunk now and then since he lives around here anyway.
@ GHB -
About the wallet checking....nothing new, they always checked my wallet when I went in there. Even went so far as asking me to remove my credit cards so they can look inside the slots.
I love Ferry dearly but by judging by the complaints in this thread
it doesnt seem like Pacha is improving at all. I won't continue to patronize a establishment like that, so no Ferry for me this time.
